Hi there,
I rescued a mare last year who towards winter started to show signs of mild lameness and swelling the her knee. She's 23 years old and her history, as far as knocks and bangs go, is unknown.
Towards spring her lameness progressed and the vet came out to get a few pics to try and shed some light as to what may be going on. Now the results have left everyone a little bit stuck. Many conditions and possible diagnosis' have been thrown our way, including osteosarcoma (which is proving to be extremely rare) nasty calcification after an old fracture, or Exostosis?
If any vets out there could help, or anyone with a similar experience is out there I would love to hear of any suggestions.
As the vet has said, we can't be sure unless a biopsy and more tests are done, but realistically the mare owes me nothing, and whilst she is happy trotting round the field on a sachet of bute then so be it.
It would be nice to hear of anymore suggestions
I can't add xray photos so anyone who may be able to help please message me with an email address and i'll send them to you
