Were you/ your children in the Pony Club, and why/ why not?

I was in PC from when I was 7 until I was about 23/24 & loved it, I had a wide range of very good and very very bad (once my mum was told by an instructor she would never put a child of hers on a horse like that!)

It was quite a small PC but fairly competitve, I did area teams & we had a number of members go to national champs, mainly tetrathlon

Stupid phone.....
But I didn't do that as my mum said no to both days of the weekend being wrecked! It wasn't that cliquey, but it was when it came to teams, I generally had young horses & was not that bothered about teams & just took them off competing under my own steam, I did take the odd pointer to a rally or two.... Always made me laugh!!

My eldest son joined last year at 4 & has really been enjoying it, but interestingly the same branch are much more focused on little ones than they used to be and don't have as many older members doing area & nationals, so it will be interesting how the little ones in it now go through it!

On a totally irrelevant note, my granny was forbidden to go to PC because it was full of dreadful scruffy children on hairy ponies (this was back in the 30's!! :D )

My daughter was a member of PC from the age of 6 until she was 18 and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.
She was on most of the teams and jumped at Hickstead, something she would not have done otherwise.
She loved camp and did her tests up to B. She learned loads and would thoroughly recommend it
