Well after getting up at stupid o'clock this morning to get the 48 horses done here, I toddled down to Magic Bum's to go Show Jumping with him and Cordy, on arriving at his I noticed he looked abit peeky...
but asked no questions, so we travelled to West Wilts and on the journey noticed he was turning rather green looking
We got to West Wilts just has they were doing the jump off for the 1.05 open... perfect has we were doing the next class... the Newcomers/Blue Chip Power Qualifier
So we got Cords ready and I was starting to get abit worried about Mat, he really didn't look that well... and I was actually contemplating fitting a sick bag to Cordy's saddle for him
We walked the course and it was a big Newcomers... Mat got Cordy out and started to warm her in... then a Stallion arrives in the warm up area... Great!! Has we have a 'maneating' mare that the term floozy just does not cover her tartiness...(one of the stallions at Aderro is petrified of her even when they are at opposite ends of a 60m arena
) but with a bit of skillful ducking, diving and dodging the stallion, Mat got her warmed in without her hormones going into overdrive!!
It was finally her turn to jump and they jumped a beautiful clear round and I was really chuffed, it was a beautiful round!!
and Mat managed to get round without throwing up!!
I think adrenelin must have kicked in because he looked alot less peeky after jumping than he did before!
So we waited for the jump off... there was 17 in the jump off all together and Cords was 8th in, again she jumped beautifully and she actually listened to Mat when he was checking her
AND she let him she her stride for her
(for anyone that remembers the last time she went jumping, when she won the Discovery at West Wilts will also remember she was rather full of herself an it took 3 laps of the arena to stop her after the jump off and she kept putting 3 strides in ALL the 4 stride related distances!
) Mat didnt go for it in the jump off, he went for a nice round and did one tight turn, so we had to wait to see if we were in the top eight to qualify for the Blue Chip Champs again, after what seemed like an eternity they announced the placings and Cordy came 7th... HOORAY!!! So she has now qualified for the Blue Chip Championships in Power and Discovery!!
I think doing well made Mat forget about feeling ill too, because he had his usual helping of sausage and egg bap after we put Cordy away... although I did think he was looking abit green again in the box on the way home!!
Get better soon Mat and WELL DONE (It's good to know the Magic Bum still works even when you are under the weather)
