Well was fab to be back eventing again after a 6 week break following Hartpury. It was touch and go this week as she was lame last Sunday with a bruised sole, but we kept her walking during the week and I was able to school her Friday and give her a jump yesterday so off we went today!
Thank you very much to Poggio for giving up her day again to help me out - you were brilliant.
Arrived at West Wilts at 6.45am! Warmed up well for dressage, very level headed considering how long since she's been out. Did a nice test scored 36.7 which we thought was harsh, but actually the judge was marking very hard. Quick change and onto showjumping - she jumped very well, just rolled a pole, downhill oxer, was always going to be my bogey fence! Another quick change and onto xc (this was only 9am!). Having not run since Hartpury and not even had a xc school before I wondered what she'd make of it, but she was fab, a few green moments early on - spooky into the water etc but otherwise she felt very confident. Stormed round with very little incident until the last fence! This was a ditch followed 2 strides later by an arrowhead, a bit of a cheeky question at the end! Saw a lovely stride to the ditch so kept coming, she took off and then all of a sudden she fell in the ditch. She must have slipped as she took off but was a bit of a shock and we ended up in a bit of a heap, I couldn't see a thing as hat had fallen over eyes, but bless her, she picked up took a stride and jumped the arrowhead!!! What a star!!!
So pleased that she went so well and even more pleased to finish 8th and get another points for our efforts!!
