Hi everyone!
Going to have a go at the West Wilts Unaffiliated ODE with my lovely girl this weekend and have a few questions about it.

First, is the dressage and sj on grass or on a surface (sorry very new to eventing, but do love it!)?
What is the sj usually like (we are doing 80 cm)? Scary fillers, tight turns?
What is the xc course like?
If you have a stable, what are they like? Roomy, somewhere to stick your stuff, anything extra you need to bring?
And finally, anyone else going?!

Any help appreciated! Went xc schooling last night at Rabson which was fab! Paris (horsey!) was really enjoying herself and we had a great time focusing on rhythm and 'go!'.

Thanks!

You can check out the xc course on the shoestring eventing website. They have photos of lots of be courses. Probably sj in the indoor and dressage on surface outside. No idea about stables I'm afraid

The dressage is usually on grass and the sj and sj warm up in the huge outdoor.
Stables are under cover, not huge but adequate, they will probably park you on the hardstanding fairly near the boxes if you are staying overnight so not too far to take stuff you need.

The sj is likely to be up to height, turns should be fair but do expect some fillers to be used as they have a good range of all sizes, it is a lovely venue, very busy normally but well run and helpful experienced stewards at all phases.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone, really helpful! Also, have heard that xc is not good for nappy horses? Paris doesn't usually nap but like to be prepared!
Thanks!

The xc usually starts next to the warmup and loops around past it before you set off with fence 1 and 2 running alongside it so that's where people sometimes have problems. There are also a few crossing points where you have horses passing in the opposite direction but by that point you will probably be up and running so I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck, I did that one last year, it's our riding club qualifier so there will be lots of friendly faces 😀

Only done the BE there but it is a nice event :)

Stables are a lot better than others I have stayed in! rubber mats and plenty of shavings.

XC is basically two fields so you go round in a circle - dressage usually on grass, sj either on sloping grass or in the arena.

Lovely friendly event, have fun and good luck :)

Thanks everyone, really looking forward to it as just had xc lesson (where admittedly I had no breaks!) which we both really enjoyed. Going for hack tomorrow and then flatwork on Saturday before event on Sunday! Really excited and hope that we don't get eliminated this time around!

Looking forward to it tomorrow! Just walked xc and seems gentle and nice, which is great since the blooming stud plugs won't come out(screw in)! Good thing we don't need them! Will post a report tomorrow evening. :)
