Just watched the video below and just cant get over how different the horses look over in the USA when competing.

I know they bring them onto the bit for proper dressage but the western pleasure with the english saddle but western style just looked so unusual to my very british eyes!

Also - do you think the horse is wearing a tail extension - his tail just looks unnaturally heavy at the bottom?

All that aside he is a beautiful horse......reminds me of someone..;):D

I have just watched the video and I think the horse looks fab. Yes he has a false tail and horses in the showing world in the usa are expected to have tails, so they use false ones. I have one for my qh which is used mainly in europe (when i can afford to go again!) or at a big show like the garden of england international show at bodiam, sussex. There are rules concerning the use of the false tail in how they are attached and they also come in different weights according to how much tail you want and the colour match.

Lol - I ride both western and English - the you tube clip is the concours class - they have one in each rodeo - it's when you change to English - like a versitility class - those horses will be out and out western horses - hence looking odd . In rodeos the more classes you enter the more chance of more pints etc to win championship so you might as well have a bash. This is not American showing or dressage don't worry!

i wasnt worried or condemning it, or saying it was wrong etc - just that how to my english eyes it looked unusual.

I know about their false tail uses, have looked at the online stores where they buy them....i just couldnt decide if the horse in the vid had one or not - they are quite realistic looking but just the way his tail carried made me suspicious.

I like variety in life, and horse riding is the same :D
