Awesome! Loved that!
Is this for real - a proper show?
Unbelievable![]()
Yes and despite what is being said about judging by the powers that be to have the horses more forward going the staggering slow peanutIt's the draw reins on the curb bit that do my head in. The yank-yank-yank isn't so great either. Overall, it's a horrible display of what western pleasure should be.
I ride western as do many of my friends and have attended several western shows, I have NEVER seen riding like that or horses that look so down trodden and miserable! Unfortunately in life there always those that give something a bad name, I'm sure we could just as easily find a video clip showing a similarly horrific example of english riders but that doesn't mean english riding is bad, wrong or shouldn't be given the credit it's due when done properly. Yes the horses are required to move at a different pace to those competing in english shows but they should still be happy and comfortable, a pleasure horse should be a horse you could spend a day in the saddle on but should be happy to have you up there for the day too!
Please don't judge all western horses and riders by this shoddy example! I know lots of happy, healthy and very much loved horses that are ridden and competed western style.
