Hey

Does anyone want a Beautiful, black leather, hand made western saddle

NEVER been used for riding by us as my mare is not suitable for Western riding due to existing tendon problems. However my dad bought it for me as a surprise for my birthday at the end of May and rather than leave it sitting around looking pretty it would be much better if someone could get the use of it

Fit from cob to full size, seat size 16 1/2" from pommel to back of seat. Comfortable seat, sheepskin underneath so comfy for the horse.

Plain leather around seat with tooling on skirt and stirrups, with lovely silver on the saddle skirts - stunning.

silverware on saddle is apparently ideal for use in shows.

Also included is black leather and silver bridle with reins and breast plate together with saddle cloth again with comfy sheepskin underneath. This saddle cloth itself must be worth almost £80.

I am looking for £250 for the lot + £20 postage via parcel force for either 48 hour delivery.......an absolute bargain as I know my Dad paid £370.

If you want further details or pics then please e mail me at - ryehill@yahoo.co.uk

sorry but for this price I doubt that this is a hand made western saddle. New basic western saddles start with maybe 500-800 £. Plus why is a horse not suitable for western riding because of the tenson issue but for english riding it is? It's not a matter of the tack you use, it is how you ride. Why not using your saddle for hacking quietly? More comfort for you and your horse...This is like saying a horse is not suitable for english riding. Never heard anything like this...

My horse has had to be retired due to recurrent problems with her TENDONS not tensons.....what on earth are those....lol

that is the reason we don't need the saddle. Sorry, perhaps I should have explained that but didn't feel it necessary. As for contradicting about whether this is hand made or not I think I can be the judge of that.....lol...

Never heard the like......lol

Hi, not sure you are allowed to advertise stuff on the forums...anyhow, maybe try putting on the classifieds on www.thewesternshop.com (you can advertise free, and can put in pic also free). also contact your local Western Equestrian Society rep as they send out newsletters and e-zines with tack ads. When you measure your saddle do it from the base of the horn to the start of the back of the seat, you will probably then find that it is smaller than 16 and a half inches. Hope that helps.

ok - will do and thanks for this - much appreciated. Will see if I can get it removed if its not supposed to be on here and again many thanks

A black western handmade saddle? I would hazard a guess that it is Mexican made and therefore you'll be lucky to sell for the price you are asking.

Black is not a colour chosen by serious western riders and as it is generally an inferior leather used that is why they are so inexpensive.

If it is a custom handmade saddle then on the tag it will be stamped by the custom saddler with his name and the number of the saddle - however at this price then I very much doubt it will have anything stamped on the tag, let alone the number

.

16 and a half is a HUGE size for a western saddle - not usual that's for sure, however I think you have measured it incorrectly - you need to measure from the end of the hole just down from the horn and straight to the cantle of the saddle.....the most usual size is 15", if that helps you any.

Just to give you an idea of the cost of custom western saddles; you're looking at upwards of £2,000 for a bog standard. One with silver conchos and trim can easily cost £3,000 upwards.

Best of luck trying to sell it - however I doubt you'll get a sale on HHO as there are barely any western riders on here; plus you aren't supposed to advertise on here.

Hi

the saddle is stamped etc and it is as described. My Dad bought it from a friend who was very much into Western riding and had it hand made for his horse hence the unusual size, colour and the reason he got it at a bargain price. Honestly some folk just knit pick to the limits. There is no scam going on here and of course anyone who wants to seriously discuss the saddle is more than welcome to come and see/try it as I wouldn't have it any other way - so woah there with all the criticism as its unjustified and as I said in a previous post I will have the ad removed as it seems to be causing you a bit of stress.
