Western saddle

The sun is out, well it has been all week So I thought it was about time I give my western saddle a proper work out as it as not had much use thus far.

Its very comfy the only downside the fenders are a little longer than I would like ( they are at there shortest point )

I imported it from the states it was a spur of the moment purchase eeeeek note to self must stop with expensive impulse buys !

Its a Billy cook porter saddle what do you think ?

Awww looks good If your insured though check your insurance as western invalidates some policies :/

Lovely saddle. I don't think the fenders are too long, I think you need to ride longer when you're western LOL!
I gave up trying to buy a decent western saddle, even when told they fitted most seemed too narrow on the wither for my Arab.
I've not heard of any insurance invalidated by riding western, so if anyone can mention which companies this applies to I'd be interested.

Lovley saddle
Just a word of warning, you might like to remove the 2nd girth, otherwise known as the bucking strap! If it slips/moves ir=t makes the horse buck.
The reason its there, is for when you rope a steer and tie thr lassue to the horn at the front of the saddle and the steer pulls away the strap is there to stop the saddle tipping forward.
Have you tied your latigo strap? as the cinth isn't in any of the holes.

Billy Cook - class saddles Most of my Boarders seem to have BC, I must have a dozen of them in my tackroom, if I had a spare $2000 or so I'd get myself one, except they weigh so much I can't actually swing them up! All my bridles are BC, can't go wrong there.
Saddlewise, I have to stick with my synthetic jobby, a 40lb saddle would flatten my little mare

Very nice saddle, I like the round skirts better than the square ones, gives a short backed horse more room. The back cinch could do with going up another hole (going from the photo) so it is a little more snug.

Kaluki the cinch looks tied up to me.

I have removed the 2nd girth as its not necessary for what I am doing, but its not just used for roping !
The latigo was tied in that pic I normally use the buckle.
Good ride today But got to say the English saddle is more comfy lol guess I have to get used to it.

I can't get to grips with them at all! I prefer the old fashioned flat seated saddles, can't even stand anything 'blocky'
