How unbelievably quick to get worm count results from Westgate labs. I posted samples in a very rural post office in back of beyond in N Ireland yesterday after 4pm and I got emailed the results before lunch today. Much better than the previous company I used.

One horse has come back with a high worm count (strongyles) despite being wormed frequently in the past year - not wormed before I bought him as a three year old as far as I know. What wormer recommendation would you give for this horse? I am going to do tapeworm in Sept/Oct. I'm thinking of doing a double dose for this horse then worm count again in a few weeks?

Yes I emailed them back and they recommended an ivermectin one eg eqvalan. I also text my vet and he recommended an ivermectin one - I am not at home at the moment so I rang a few local vets and only have strongid P, Equest and maybe a few others. Going to visit vets tomorow and get more of a look at them.

Mrs D - yes I was considering a dose one day then another the following day - I know its tough on them - what else would you suggest?

Thanks - is that Panacur 5 day wormer? that was the first thing I thought of but read that it wasn't as effective as people think - I thought it was supposed to be tough on them but very effective - says Oct/Nov best time for usage so was planning on doing both horses then.
