Does anyone use the monthly subscription? Pros/cons? Is it quite pricey? £6.50 a month for healthy adult horse

I did it until I moved to a yard where they had their own testing programme. It works out slightly cheaper than buying 4 counts and 2 tapeworm testing kits from them which is the minimum you get. If you needed to retest after a high count, you'd get more.

It takes the hassle out of remembering too as they just send you the tests when they're due

I don’t as mine always returns zero counts so it works out cheaper for me to just buy a pack of tests but I do know others that use this service & it seems to work well for them as they tend to get some non-zero results & need re-tests so it then comes out cheaper in general for them.

Your other option is to buy the 4 season pack which has 4 worm counts and 2 tapeworm tests which works out a couple of pounds cheaper over the year. But as shooting star says as soon as you get a positive count and need to do an extra, the subscription works out cheaper.

Worth seeing if your vet does a Healthcare program, mine does the Horse Health Program and includes 4 poo counts and 1 tapeworm test in the autumn with the autumn wormer if required. Also includes 10% off everything, 20% off certain lifetime meds and also covers annual teeth (inc sedation) and vaccs. Could be worth looking at and seeing if (when considering the cost of the westgate plan) it saves you some pennies overall.

5 worm counts and 2 equsals from poopost is £66. £6.5 x 12 = £78
diff £12. Depends how much £12 is worth to you.

thank you for working that out for me!!
so it’s all same amount of things just slightly diff price. I’ve heard of west gate labs, not poo post.

I use Westgate Labs as I am too disorganised (ADHD) to remember to do it all at the right time if left to my own devices. So I get sent 4 x poo tests a year & 2 x saliva/tapeworm and I can then manage to do it & send it back. My tests are mostly zero, but new chap wasn't, so it's been useful to monitor his progress.

catembi this is EXACTLY why I have asked this ?
Different yard with different vet catchment so no worming plan set up as per my old place. It helps if I organise things in place so I can be organised by others!
