Well after my post about "what's it like at Hargate" I decided to go to WL as it was closer. Bad Move!

I arrived at 11 a.m. to do BN. They were still on the 80cm unaff class, 66 had entered & only 16 had jumped.
The next class was the 90cm Amature followed by the BN. I booked in to do the 90cm(which at the last count had 77 in it!) Had a 3 hour wait until it started. It came to getting ready to tack up & warm up, THEN.....I LOCKED MY KEYS IN THE CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
Luckily I had a friend with me who had her phone. My parents arrived to help but to no avail!
We rang the RAC in the end who pushed a piece of wire through the passenger window that I'd left open by an inch and managed to flip the lock open.

To top it all, when it was my turn to jump I was all flustered because at this point we hadnt rung the RAC, I had the 1st 2 fences down, then the double blew over in the wind!

PS, After reading the other posts on here about WL building big - Yes they do! - Not all of the fences are but they progressivey get bigger the further you get round!

My OH and I were at a comp last Sunday, and the folk beside us locked their keys in their van. Had about 5 people trying to "break" into it ,in the end we were successful.
Not a v nice thing to happen though, esp before you jumped, wouldn't have been so bad if you had been finished already.

Better luck next time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one then!

Oh the whole day wasn't right! I shouldn't of jumped really but as I'd waited so long I had to!!

And how was it getting out the lorry park? Sometimes it is horrendous - they could do with a lorry park twice the size cuz it gets packed. Yes - WL is notorious for building big! We were there recently and the 2nd phase of the 90cm was 1.05m and mega wide!

Oh no, i saw you! We drove our lorry past you just as the RAC had got the wire through the window, What a nightmare. I got there at 2pm and didn't jump until 5pm, which was not good! I will learn my lesson though and call friend on collecting ring to get a proper idea of what is going on!!

Lorry park wasn't bad when I left because I didn't leave until about 5:30 (i think!)

think I might ring next time to find out how far they've got!

I was at Weston Lawns yesterday......what a nightmare.....everything was running so late

. We arrived at about midday & were to ride the Amateur, the BN & the Discovery. We left before the Discovery started...& that was at around 7pm.

We had waited almost 5 hours before we jumped our first class & that is ridiculous!

Due to loads of eventing being cancelled the Eventers descended on WL, there were more people jumping on a ticket than weren't. Why WL didn't limit the classes lord only knows.......I think they just wanted to take as much in entry fees as they could....they must have made a fortune but there were alot of totally fed up people hanging around.

Unfortunately due to venues like Solihull rarely doing BSJA now & other venues hardly ever putting on competitions W.L. are about the only venue in the area to go to.

I do wish another event arena would open to relieve the pressure!

Oh yes.....& the lorry park was a joke......I left late so didn't have any difficulty getting out but earlier lorries were just all blocked in....the CP is far too small, even on a normal day.

Oh well moan over

omg poor you!
I was meant to go yesterday, but went to Hargate instead, thought we'd be home quicker driving 2 hours to get to hargate instead of an hour to weston lawns, but be there for 10 hours lol!

Oh dear, how I sympathise with all of you. WL used to be my local, and looks like all of the above comments are all due to its success.
Here in France, we enter 10 days in advance, you are E Mailed the morning after entries close with your class start time and position to jump, classes are usually in the morning or afternoon with a civilised lunchbreak for everyone.Downside is that if anything goes wrong on the day, like your car breaks down, then you lose your entry fee.
But on the whole, this system is great.
