i would like to preface everything by saying that i rode like a pleb today, i didnt get him in front of the leg in the first warm up, and then i went super tense expecting him to not go.idiot idiot rider
:( but its ok because i know what went wrong, and NMT is going to beat me with a big stick at the regionals to make sure i dont do the same, so its ok in the end :)

he was super duper chilled, no black beauty impersonations in the warm up, so maybe after the regionals we can half the pony snuff???

M63= he died on me, went REALLY green and wobbly (which is fine, he's only 6) but then totally went behind the leg (not so fine) hence we had no steering or power really, and i went all floppy and plebby and didnt do a whole lot to improve things...
he ground to a half in the second simple change (only because he wasnt in front of the leg) and then had a kick at my leg......and then dawdled in to the last halt all crooked and wobbly and had a tantrum when i corrected it (again, if he'd been in flipping front of me, it wouldnt have been dawdly and wobbly, pah, slapped wrist)......so 2 biggish bloopers.
TBH it took me by total suprise as usually, if anything, he goes silly sharp and a bit rushy, this is the first time in a long time iv had to kick and scrub to get round.

however, in spite of the 2 cock up, me being a pleb and him being asleep, we managed 2nd on 61.&% under THE toughest judge (fair, but supersonic tough).......so without the cock ups and plebbyness, it would have been a really decent score from her :)

(as an amusing side note, a friend and her daughter had come to watch and Alice had bough CS a yummy carrot as bribery.......half way through my walk pirouettes said carrot was apparently hurled in to the ring with an encouraging war cry from Alice!!!!!! I was so in the zone i didnt even notice lol!!!!.........................and carrot was retrieved and consumed by pony at a later point!) and its a shame it didnt actually hit him ,as may have woken us both up!!!)

had a much needed pep talk aka rollocking from NMT in the collecting ring and then went off and actually got him off my leg for M71!
went much better, much less green (although again to be fair, he is always much more on the ball in the second test, and thats just a baby thing i think), but i was still moderately plebby as went all floppy and apathetic and didnt really get in to it.
however, no explosions, and just one simple change that we biffed and fell in to, and we managed to win it with 64.8%, so a big improvement :)

no errant carrots that time either!!!

so, some homework to do before regionals, mentally rather than physically, but its clearly showed me what i need to do/not do, so a useful outing and i am SO pleased to have got that % from that judge!!!!!

cumberland pie, rose wine and victoria sponge for all!

I never noticed his 4 white socks before- they are adorable :) That sounds like a really useful outing, and you've been all annoying and managed to get frillies and good scores whilst having 'learning experiences'. Well done :) Bodes well for regionals- when are they? I'm crossing my fingers for the 6th August, as Reg always seems to do well if we go out on the same day as you :P

Sorry, no cumberland pie or rose left. *hic*

Admittedly he was a lazy turd, but remember to get after it like you do at home. RIDE IT LIKE YOUR ASS IS ON FIRE. If it takes a wild out of control galloping circuit to get it listening and in front of your leg, do it.... Just shout warnings to fellow warmer-uppers....!! Super pleased that notoriously tough judge has given you that %.

Not as super polished as usual, but plenty to learn from and take away from the experience :)

Still laughing about the whole carrot thing, was SO close to wetting myself.

Well if thats you on a "plebby" day then all other regional competitors should be quivering in fear :p ... As usual he looks lush and i really love the huge plaits. Good luck for regionals :)

Did laugh at the flying carrot! My old pony Bronts would have probably stopped to eat it (as he once did on the way to a show - went under a pear tree - pears on the floor - cue ten minutes in the middle of the road with me pony club kicking (something I would never have dared to attempt with him at any other time!) whilst he hoovered them up, holding up all the traffic :o) but he was muchos naughtier than CS.

He looks lovely in the pictures, and his little tongue-sticky-outiness in the 6th one is quite cute, bless :) Like he's concentrating very hard!

I don't think i've ever replied to your threads but i always look at him in ore! I'm sure you've been asked this a thousend times, but how much racing did he do and when did he begin his re-schooling?

He's stunning and you seem to be a great combo!

Wish my bad days got scores like that from a generous judge ;). Well done even if it was not as great as it could have been, good luck at regionals hope its a fab day :).
The carrot incident has to be the funniest thing ever most horses would have freaked, mine included, I think you need extra marks for that.

On that topic, are we allowed to see any 'before' pics from when you first got him? Pweeaaase? Would be really interested to see what he looked like in his racing alter-ego :p:D

Think we must have been in after you ,on the grey, we didn't take Rafi and it was the first time Claire has competed her friends horse but she was pleased with how he went [64.46%] . We are not doing regionals at med as can do elem. rest. still and will do 3 pet plans at medium. Next time I will say 'hello'

its not new but i had to send it away to have the loops made big enough to fit on the padded headpiece......its the old style otto schumacher crystal mesh, you cant get this particular style any more (the new version has a slim border of leather showing along the edge) but pink equine do a VERY similar version in the same curved shape, or in a V shape, for a fraction of the price :)
