Pier Burnt down, i was only there on Saturday, somebody left the chip pan on, what a shame

This is what I took when I went down at about half nine. It took all of about an hour and a half to get like this-

Started in the on turret you can still see standing.

Really shocking. I lived most of my life in WSM and it will be strange going back and the pier not being there. My Nan can remember the last time the pier burnt down in 1930 as she went and collected coins on the beach that had fallen out of the burnt machines.

such a shame - a huge chunk of my childhood up in smoke.

live about 3 miles from it and could smell and see the smoke, cant bel its not there, very sad!!!

I used to ride a mechanicle horse on that pier with my gran when i was younger. . .i also used to ride a donkey called joey on the beach. . .

Soo many memories in that place such a shame and very sad

such a huge shame, so many memories of going there with my nan, going on the ghost train and scaring ourselves

saving coppers for weeks before so we could play on the machines and always having a bag of candyfloss on the way out

Really hope they do rebuild it, it just won't be right without it
