Wet bedding from drizzle in air

Is anyone else's bedding getting soaked from this damp drizzly air? I'm taking two barrow fulls out each day and it's proving a pricey week putting a fresh bag down each day (I mix megazorb with shavings)! Our cattle beds are soaked too.

My horses have not been in much but everything is very damp the droppings and hay I'm clearing from hardstanding everyday weighs a ton because of the damp, it's been really misty and overcast for days now.

Horrible weather.

Oh that's good. I was wondering if my boys were peeing so much that I needed to try a different type of bedding, or if it was just a mixture of pee and the current drizzle! I've only just started adding megazorb to my shavings and then began obsessively googling different bedding, since it was so wet every morning. As it is EXPENSIVE at £13 per bag to put in every day

I don’t pull their beds down unless they’re coming in for something but generally yes there is a thin layer of damp over everything at the moment!

Yep we are on straw so you can imagine how nice that is

Megazorb is paper so will soak up more wet than a lot of other beddings. I am using chopped rape straw which while damp is not wet with the foggy atmosphere.

It’s really grotty isn’t it? I banked up all Spud’s bedding while he was out for Christmas but it still got damp most of the way through.

i’ve been baffled as to why my pony, who barely needs a bale a week, is going through 2 or 3 a week! i’ve been telling her she needs to stop peeing so much!

Yep, same here - horses aren’t in the stables atm so hoping everything dries out again before I need to put them in. Lots of hay getting wasted on the hard standing though - won’t seem to touch it once it’s been on the wet floor

My beds are huge and have wood dust underneath. Absolutely sodden in the big lad's stable once he's been in for a few hours it looks like it's not been mucked out! the condensation on the roof is making it look like a shower is on as well! Crazy weather!!

Yes! It’s driving me mad - the beds look dark brown and the horses are barely in!

Mine are in on average one night a week just to give feet/legs a dry-out + a few hours during the day every day. The beds look like they are in daily overnight use. It's still drier than outside, just about, so I'm trying not to worry about it. I deep litter and it's "OK" but if they were in more it would quickly be rank.

Our beds are soaked. I think it’s the sheer volume of water in the grass they’re eating and then in the atmosphere itself. I’m trudging barrow after barrow of sodden bedding up to the muck heap. It’s miserable!

Was meant to be sunny here today it's still thick mist and next sunny day is Thursday that's over 2 weeks with no sunshine ☀ depressing.
