Sorry for pointless post, but after last nights disaster of a lesson I rode Pidge in a double bridle tonight and woohoo we now have brakes

Worked him for a good 45mins just in walk and trot and we only have 3 instances where he broke into canter but only for a couple of strides before I was able to get him back, and without any hassle

Am a happier mummy tonight

thanks both

yes got a bit tougher with him tonight and that combined with the double bridle which he actually seemed to like to start with worked really well

He did have a bit of a paddy part way through when he realised he couldn't do what he wanted to - cue lots of head shaking, so I just ignored that put my legs back on and told him to get a grip

well it worked so am a lot happier

will be riding him in the double for the forseeable future............
