What’s happening with PrinceFluffyKareem?

I donate monthly and will continue to do so until more facts are known. However I find it very hard to believe that Marte, along with Sherif would go to the lengths they have to save and help all those animals, all documented over years in order to set up any sort of "scam". It seems that Sherif is being set up as the bad guy, how convenient for a man who speaks too little English to defend himself. And I'm confused by the FB screenshot posted above by Happy Horses, it was Ulla who visited to do sacro cranial therapy, not Allu who has created that post.
I would prefer to see them taken over/absorbed into The Brooke if they can't continue as PFK.

I have seen many similar things happen. Small charities are started by a passionate person who does a lot of good, tries to do what is right but is no good at accurate documenting of donations and where they go, showing they always bought the cheapest of everything, that accurate records were kept etc. They do a huge amount of good and set up a charity that grows and grows, but eventually it grows beyond them and other people become involved as trustees and they have a different vision and insist on the paperwork that by then is lost in the mists of time. So they alienate the person who started it all (because by now it is a registered charity and needs accounts) and turn it into something of their own, that follows the rules and does the right paperwork, but without that unique drive that the person who started it all had. Many charities survive this and morph gradually into something larger and more organised. Some do not, because for them, the love and devotion of their creator was what inspired the supporters.

I think I'm stopping donations until I know whats happening. It seems too many of these animal charities arent all they seem to be - Four Paws, Tamaras Alternative Sanctuary, Whispering Willows, etc etc. I hope PFF is honest and upfront to all supporters.

.
With Marianne running it now all be it temporarily its in good hands and needs people to continue to donate and support, people will have to be patient but the truth will come out. I know there have been several comments about Sherif working at a riding stable and these were made by people who have lived in Egypt for years and would know what was happening there. There are roughly about 300 equines there and they are all being taken care of and fed, please continue to support.

Three HUNDRED? Why?

Is it possible to re-home animals in Egypt or do the animals that are strays or not wanted stay with the charity?

Surely the only valid criticism would be if they had insufficient funds to care for them, which is not what the dispute is about.

That is true, but I wouldn't donate to an animal charity in a country which has so many humanitarian problems if they are keeping animals alive just to hoard them. So for me, I would need to know why they have so many that they cannot rehome.

.

I'd say a big problem for animal charities in the ME is that it's culturally frowned upon to euthanise animals. I suppose if they take them in, can't re-home them and it's difficult to euthanise them, I could see how they'd end up with a lot of them.

It makes sense that taking in cats and dogs in addition to horses leads to a huge number of animals to be responsible for. At least equines have value as work animals, domestic animals don't so they would be harder to re-home.

From what I understand PFK have never rehomed, they have tended towards fostering those that are still fit to work until they can go back to their owners, and keeping the ones that are no longer fit to work (i.e. no longer fit to rehome either as it's not a country that tends to keep horses as pets).

Obviously there will be some exceptions to that rule such as Weeble who's grown in to quite a handsome creature, but personally I couldn't go through all that and then send them out to work...

I believe they rehome many of the dogs and cats because they can either be found suitable homes in Egypt or go through the vaccination programme for overseas adoption (think I've seen that posted). The horses they own are way beyond working, there are many that I would think pts but they seem to enjoy a decent quality of life in retirement though many die unexpectedly so presumably have underlying issues. But even the ones like Weeble who looks healthy was so malnourished as a foal that I doubt he'd stand up to any level of work, he'd be a "happy hack" in this country, that's not an available option for them.

It all sounds rather odd. I've supported them for a number of years but I've temporarily halted my monthly donation until there is a little more clarity about what exactly has gone on. I feel bad about doing this given the current situation, but Marte leaving permanently is a big change and they are being rather cagey on the subject of whether Sherif will be staying or not. I can't believe that these people I've trusted and believed in for so many years can really have been up to no good, and it's making me feel uncomfortable continuing with my donation at present. I may switch it to the Brooke instead.

That’s how I feel too. Think I’ll swap to SPANA.

I view what I'm reading in a different light. I can see an equally valid argument for a hostile takeover made possible by Marte's forced return to Norway. There is a lot of status to be had running a charity that has become this popular.

I don't think we do view things in a different light? My point was that I'm struggling to believe Marte and Sherif could have been doing anything wrong (and certainly not deliberately), hence wanting a bit more clarity.

My apologies, I misunderstood your post.
