Seems you’ll now have to pay if you don’t want advertising to appear amongst FB posts? Not a big user but it’s been a useful way of discovering any issues locally especially if safety stuff and things that might cause you to reconsider hacking some routes.

We're getting ready to expand our AI experience . To do this, we want you to know that we'll use public information such as public posts and comments from accounts of people aged 18 or older on the basis of legitimate interests. We'll do this to develop and improve generative AI models for our AI features and experiences.
You have the right to object to the use of your information for these purposes. If your objection is honoured, we won't use your public information from Facebook and Instagram for future development and improvement of generative AI models for our AI at Meta features and experiences. If you've already objected, you don't need to submit another request.

I believe they have done it in Europe for a while. I think Facebook are getting hassle about data compliance here now, so they are rolling it out. I had a message in FB a while ago and ignored it, but now it's getting much more persistent. If you close and reopen the app the message goes away, but soon comes back again!

and to add to that

You have the right to object to Meta using your public information from Meta Products and your interactions with AI at Meta features, to develop and improve generative AI models for AI at Meta. If you've already objected, you don't need to submit another request. If not, you can submit this form to exercise that right.

AI at Meta is our collection of generative AI features and experiences, such as Meta AI and AI creative tools, along with the models that power them. Many of these models are available through an open platform to support researchers, developers and others in the community.

Public information on our Products could be things such as public:
- Posts
- Photos and their captions
- Comments

We do not use the content of your private messages with friends and family to train our AIs unless you or someone in the chat chooses to share those messages with our AIs.

If you submit an objection, we'll send an email confirming that we won't use your public information from Meta Products or your interactions with AI at Meta features, for future development and improvement of generative AI models for AI at Meta.

Your objection will also be applied across any accounts that you've added to the same Accounts Centre as the account you've logged in to to submit this form. You'll need to submit a new form for each additional account you have that is not added to the same Accounts Centre as this account. Visit the Help Centre to learn more about Accounts Centre.

We might still process information about you to develop and improve AI at Meta, even if you object or don't use our Products. For example, this could happen if you or your information:
-Appear anywhere in an image shared publicly on our Products by someone who uses them
-Are mentioned in public posts or captions that someone else shares on our Products

To learn more about the other rights that you have related to information that you've shared on Meta Products, visit our Privacy Policy.

I haven't had a notice on FB about any of this.
Neither had I, but five minutes ago I went to go on my Facebook page and lo and behold up popped the “statement” from META…pay £3.99 per month for adfree, or continue on with adverts, although, and this worries me, they reserve the right to use your details etc etc….now does this mean we cannot get rid of advertising posts by clicking on the X top right or even the 3 dots?

I've just opted for free to get rid of the blumming message - I've still got the cross and 3 dots on posts same as before

Facebook is no longer fun like it used to be. Weird algorithms. People don’t see your stuff for days. I’m bored with it. Just still a bit addicted sadly.
I kept getting crazed far-right wing stuff with loads of bot posts in the comments, AI picture slop, boring boxing videos and videos of people falling off horses.
Gave up a few months ago, logged back on recently and same old rubbish again. So binned it again.

That giant pile of S-H-I-T (faceache ) ---- has now been handed over to the "tangerene turd" and his GESTAPO called 'ice'.

These turds are now trawling thru every post -- and if they find some person, or anybody who disagrees with the republican point of view, then they are REMOVED PERMANTLY from faceache.

Wont be long now and a lot of other persons will be posting about being banned from faceache on other sites.

The tangarene turd is reading mien kampf and attempting to impliment ALL hitlers propogander ideas for the press, so it's now churning out bulls--t properganda for the stupid dumb yank republicans to digest.

I also need to delete it. The problem I have is that a lot of local horsey events are primarily advertised solely through FB now. Clinics, RC, table sales and updates on bridleways are all on Facebook.
My feed is 90% adverts for things I don’t want to see, click bait articles, regional community groups that are nowhere near me or even in different countries. I did not need to know that Brenda in Dublin has lost a parcel 🙄. It’s very annoying.

I had to choose to pay or not on instagram but not FB yet.

I agree about how crappy facebook is now. I do get a few interesting things pop up on my feed but I often don’t see friends posts for days if at all and I rarely see anything from pages that I choose to follow.

Random question but - are there any viable alternatives to the meta apps? So much horse stuff is on Fb plus marketplace for buying/selling. If something happened to meta as a whole, where would that all go?

I’ve started using vinted for certain bits and bobs.

That's the rub. Local horse riding stuff, my working spaniel club, my fishing syndicate, plus the rare occasions where something pops up in the local residents group that doesn't involve nylon flags and zipties.

Eventually I decided that I survived pretty well before it came along, and now it's complete crap anyway.

I quit it for a year and didn’t miss it at all. I then had to go back on when I had a horse on livery as the yard details/group chat was only on Facebook. Then it got its claws in and I’ve been stuck ever since.

i would happily pay if it meant I only saw friends posts and groups i'm a member of. Its on average 20 posts before I see one that I want to!

Just keep an eye on individuals who say anything against the republicans, look for them a week later and see if you find that individual.

Faceache will still be there, BUT, what about all those individuals that give insults as answers to the piss weak republicans.
