What’s your favourite poultice?

I wouldn't use the hoof shaped ones continually as they will soften the whole foot, I would just cut a piece to just cover the abscess each time.

Thanks, yeah im cautious of the constant wet on his foot, so today I just packed the affected area with epsom salts/iodine mix and popped a dry dressing on. Think im getting there with it now. He bombed around the field yesterday and looked pretty sound so he’s obviously feeling good on it!

Being ancient as I am I remember bran poultices with hessian sacks cut to size and plastic bag over the top, thank goodness now for animallintex, vet wrap and silage tape!

Or boiling up the tin of Kaolin, usually scalding yourself at some point!
