What 4x4 would you recommend?

We have an Isuzu Trooper Citation and my parents love it. We're on our 2nd one as we drive are first one into the ground. They have regularly towed 2 16hh's from berkshire to yorkshire (about 230 miles in one go and back again) when sis and I were both at boarding school. It can easily pull 1 horse at can get to 70mph easily whilst doing this! But don't worry we do drive at 60mph for the vast majority of the time and do rarely speed. Ours has so much boot space and space in general

I agree with the Toyota Landcruiser vote, I've had one for 5 years now and its been great. Really good to tow with and its a good, reliable 4x4.

We tow with a Toyota Landcruiser and it is AMAZING!

It has amazing pulling power and the best turning circle of any 4x4 I have ever towed with!

Kia beats the Land cruiser on turning circle every time!!

However if you forget to put the jockey wheel arm right up it leaves a nasty dent in the bumper..... and this is why I'm not allowed to tow with the land cruiser (that and leaving essential stinky horse equipment in it wasn't popular either).....

We have a discovery and when you are towing it is easy to forget you have something attached to the back. My dad has only managed to get it stuck in a field once, and it was his fault for reversing into a bog. It is expensive to run though so we have a £175 nissan micra for everyday running around.

My Discovery has been reliable I have to say, of course things go wrong and the 'worst' was a defunct water pump. Have had it for 7 years and it is nearly 10 years old now. It has had to work btw and isn't at all in Chelsea tractor mode!

I loved my Disco - have now moved over to a lorry & fiesta because I do so many miles for work. Discos are better on fuel than lots of other 4x4 and they make lovely family cars. I miss mine so much (boo hoo hoo). Its lovely having a lorry but I cant get used to driving the fessy. I forget that I can' go up verges and into fields!
