5am start, arrived at the yard just after 6 and brought the little guy in from the field.
Plaited him up and whiped off the grass stains from his white socks and loaded up
He was a complete star loading but a complete toad whilst travelling, really pouring the ground and just being totally bad tempered.
We arrived just after 8am and off loaded.
He stood like a dream and ate his hay whilst i popped his studs in. We were really close to the main tents, which is sandwiched between the dressage and xc.
He settled immediately in the dressage, didnt nap leaving the lorry and just behaved nicely. We were right over the far side on our own doing the dressage, but right next to the xc with water jump.
As we were first after the break i pootled over there and judge came out, i asked nicely if she would mind me walking around until she was ready to start as he has NEVER done a dressage test, let alone seen white boards. She was absolutely lovely and let me walk around 3 times and when i popped into trot she blew the horn.
Our test, in actual fact wasnt at all bad, he was straight in both centre lines. Canter we got 7s but i nearly lost him in the first canter lol
We jogged a bit in the walk, totally my fault by over riding him, but we scored a very creditable 41.5 mostly 6s a few 7s and x2 5s. oh and he didnt even look at the white boards.
He had a little break and onto the sjing. We warmed up in the old indoor school and had the new fabulous outdoor school for the SJing itself.
The course was bright and had 10 fences, snoopy warmed up like a cocky little git and just pinged around like they were 2ft
He went in and jumped an okay round, but again cocky as hell and rolled a front pole off fence 4 (my fault MUST KEEP SHOULDERS BACK) and rolled a pole on the double behind (HIS FAULT).
Anyway very pleased, as the sjing caused mayhem!
30 mins until xc, Mrs T was totally in charge of getting ponio ready and she was a total star!
I was totally put at ease as everything was done for me, she even came up to the xc start along with lunge line in case he napped
He warmed up over the two logs like a real pro, horses were stopping or jumping very sticky but he just took it in his stride. Only popped him over 3 fences and then just walked around.
I had a canter just before the off and stood talking to Mrs T until they called 30 secs.
Wandered over (as you do) and stood in the start gate on 10 seconds - and we were away.
He flew like a little pro, no hesitation over the first 5 fences, over the spinny rails and up on top of the bank, quite big step up then two big drops the other flew down those and up over the next fence.
He was just awesome! coming into the main field again i was concerned that he may look at the tradestands, but he didnt, he was bold as brass over the fences along the bottom, even over the fence before the water, i thought [****] pulled hard right and he nearly stopped up on me cos he wasnt sure what the hell i was on about but kicked on straight through the water and over the fence the other side.
He galloped the last two fences and felt as good as seasoned eventer.
He never looked at fence judges, cars or ppl, he was out there to do a job and boy did he feel brilliant!
We came home with 8.8 time and even on the vid he looks like he wasnt hanging around, but he had plenty of petrol in the tank so next time i will know to just kick on again.
So there you have it, finished on 58 but I am thrilled with the little guy.
Hopefully we finished in the top 25 and we werent by no means last after dressage with a 65, 52 and 48's behind us
Photos will be on website in the next few days
will try and up load the xc vid.... but then you know me and technology.
Going to try and see if and its a big IF we can pop him in a PN at Aston because hes such a cocky bugger in the sjing. But his next event is Mattingley Intro
Thanks for reading and thank you so much to all of those who sent me good luck wishes today
And of course thanks to Mrs T, I want that lady to be my groom all the time lol
