Here is my first self indulgent whinge post - hope you don't mind.

As a teacher I spend most of my classroom hours with a big smile plastered on while I try to teach stroppy teens the merits of Shakespeare :( all the while with my wistful daydreams of being out riding in the back of my mind. Needless to say I am then down the yard straight after shool.

Having 6 weeks off was going to be brilliant. I really wanted to develop my confidence with cantering out in groups as this has been an issue for some time.

Had two weeks abroad at the beginning of the hols (couldn't wait to get back) then I didn't ride for a week as I was finishing off a house move that started before we went away! Then I tacked her up - went out for our first hack of the summer, came back beaming, was picking her feet out and she spooked, went up and landed on my foot.

Foot buggered, think elephant man, infected blood clots, lots of meds, still can't wear a shoe. Haven't ridden since. So I've had six weeks off and ridden once.

Sorry for all of you that have had worse times, sick ponies, worked all summer, didn't get a foreign holiday. I know I am whining out of turn :(

I'm with you on this one!

We've got a hay field that's never been cut so now have to find and buy in some hay. We had our rescue dog put to sleep 2 weeks ago - he'd been with us for 11 years so we're all upset by it. Then we went on holiday for a week and one of our guinea pigs died while we were away. Now it's chucking it down and it feels like winter.

Am tempted to hide under the duvet and not come out for a long time.

Ooh what a rotten way for your summer hols to end.

On the upside - you've had a lovely holiday, you've finally sold your sister's house (yay!) and to be honest it's raining so much at the mo you wouldn't want to be out riding! chuckle.

It's not long until the October half term ... keep that in mind whilst teaching those 'orrible 'uns the merits of shakespeare!

xxx

Its been a bit of washout all round I think! I just had shows cancelled, nothing as bad as your injury. Although you got a holiday and I didnt which balances it out slightly :p

I feel like Ive not got much done and I had lots of plans...

You always manage to see the positive :) I need to take some of whatever you're having Ems! Thing is I can't believe I still have to teach today's students about Shakespeare. I certainly don't believe they should cover half of what they do - poor things!

Sorry you are having bad times :( The loss if your dog outweighs my foot anyday. Been there and it was one of the worst times in my life!
