OMG, I have never seen anything like it.

There is anw horse at the yard that has been brought here to be brought on by the 2 full time girls, and me to help when I can.

Well to day we put his bridle on, took 20 mins, but we did it.

We then putn his saddle on ( baring in mind we have been told he has been ridden, yeah ok, not sure I beleive that).

He was not too happy, but we took it all very slowly.

Well then a tracto came along, he just lost it, he broke out of the school with his reigns dangling over his head, it is a miracle he did not break his neck, he was bucking like Ihave never seen, infact when I say blind panic that is just what ir was.

He then decided it was not enough to buck on the spot, he had to run blindly and buck.

I was shouting to the kids that were there to get in the car, one the stable girls grabbed a girl just as his foot came down on her back pack, thank god she had it on.

I really surprised my self though, scardey cat that I am, I caught him and calmed him down, then lead him away and untacked him.

Somehow I have pulled my back and have a big bruise on my foot.

I know feel uterlay exhausted, I think the reality of what coiuld have happend is starting to sink in.

Wow what an afternoon.

Daisy was completly unware of the danger and kept telling every one he was just doing a funny danc, and that it is ok, mummy has put him back in the field and he ok now, bless

I think!! I'd wash some arnica down with the wine too!!

Thanks we will need them, as many hugs as every one can manage.

He is soo lovely, but I do not think the whole truth has been told.

He seems to like me, so will treat him as a blank canvass and see where that gets us

I'd try & find out a bit more about him before you do anything else!

I must say the total over-reaction & panic sounds a bit like my lad. He was diagnosed with ulcers which have been treated with a course of GastroGuard &, fingers crossed, we haven't had a panic/blanking out episode since.

This is waht bothers me. All they will say is that he has been backed, although really plays up, although was fine yesterday, and kickes outnwhen legs are touched.

Sorry to go on, but I really think I am made to feel soft, when I think that every thing should finish on a good point, even if he lost the plot, we still praised him for putting his bridle and saddle on. So why prolong the stress, I calmed him down and praised him with the saddle and briddle on, he was happy and calm so releasewd him.

WasI wrong to do this.

Sorry turned into a bit of a tale but this is how I was taught to do it, and as far as I can see , takes longer but works

So my plan of action is after much thought is, just catch him every day, dont ask much of him and just groom him and touch his legs and make it a really nice experience with loads of goodies.

Is this the right thing to do?

It has worked with my dogs and ponies that were not so barking mad
