My mare was due to be pts this morning, but got cancelled due to the snow, a horse down the yard had colic so me and mum had to help deal with that, had the vet out but he is doing fine now.

Then to top it off my mum has just had a phonecall from a girl down the yard to yet again query why we are having are mare pts. A few of them have the opinion that she should go to a retirement home. Why can't people keep there bloody noses out. We know we have made the right decision so why can't they accept it. Its bad enough dealing with this, hardly slept last night with antisipation for today. I am shaking with anger cus I feel like ringing this girl and telling her to **** off!! phew, rant over.

if you think you have made the right decision then do what you think is right f**K everyone else ,

>>>hugs for you<<<<

You poor thing. I hope everything works out, you know your horse better than anyone and know when it's time, if the mares quality of life has gone, it's time. I hope all goes ok.((((hugs)))))

Poor you, loads of hugs being sent your way.

There do seem to be too many people out there that seem to think keeping an in pain animal alive is kinder than to let it forever sleep peacefully. I've had to make the same decision as you on more than one occasion and having taken all the facts into consideration, taken the vets advice, and leaving ones own selfish thoughts aside, the decision has to be made for the benefit of the animal.

Be strong, those people obviously don't have the full facts, nor the strength of emotion or care and love for the horse you obviously have.

x~x~x~x Loads of hugs again x~x~x~x

totally YOUR decision, tell people to shove their beaks!!

We had a mare PTS recently (couple of weeks ago) we could have given her yet more bute but she was "tired" and in a lot of pain and very old.....sensible and kindest decision PTS>

6 year old dartmoor hill pony, escaped out of anything, had lung damage from his poor start in life and heaved appallingly towards the end, so many people said do this, try this fencing, keep him in a stable with both doors shut, we were not prepared to let his breathing get worse, or pass a pony on with such issues, again rather that not know, we had him PTS. It killed us at the time but it was the kindest and responsible thing to do.

It is no-one's business but yours. If I lost my yard, I would seriously consider putting all mine down other than the most simple to handle ones that are clockwork. The others all have a few issues here and there and we have had since young, I dont think I could put them through the stress or not know where they ended up.

You are being responsible.

I am sick of hearing about these people loaning out/selling on horses they dont want or cant afford to keep anymore, or "send it somewhere as a companion". There are many of those already, so although I do not know your situation, if you choose what you think is right, stand by it and sod anyone else!!

Hugs x

You poor thing - been in the same situation myself with helpful people making helpful comments like "give him to my friend she will look after him but she cannot afford to buy a horse" - this of a lame for 7 months 8 year old TB who was high maintenance and on 2 bute twice a day with no effect.
No matter what you say there will always be people who are blind and stupid. Tell them to butt out and mind their own business. Friends will support you and you do not need the others around at this time.
I cried with anger sometimes at peoples stupidity and it still upsets me years later.
You know you are doing the right thing and this will be the hardest decision you will have ever made.
Stay strong and stick to your guns.
I hope it is all over for all of you soon the waiting is terrible.

keep strong becaboo , you know in your heart whats best for your horse as i did with harry ,i will be with you in spirit and the two neddies can be at rainbow bridge together
tracy x
