Alot of you will know that I've been feeling abit down about my schooling with D recently and was seriously considering giving up dressage and going back to hacking. I had a lesson booked anyway tonight so I asked my RI to ride D instead so I could see what she was capable of. It was a real revelation to see that D is quite capable of staying in a consistent outline in trot and tracking up beautifully. It really inspired me to see what D can do but even more to know that I had got her into a place where she could work like that, she was just being fiesty about it with me. Last time my RI rode her she couldn't maintain a contact because she just didn't have the muscles in the right place. I got back on at the end and the difference was incredible. Roll on our next dressage test!

I know its not all going to be sorted over night but at least I can see now how far she's come and where we have the potential to go together.

Well done, and even if she is being feisty about it with you, she can do it and it is you that got all those muscles in the right place, your RI just gave you the motivational kick up the bum that you needed!
