I had Micah 12 months and all was fine. Then I decided I wanted a little more umph so I switched to a working cube (pm me if you want to know which one)
Anyway a few weeks down the line he was not moving right. Chiro came out and said he was sore in his shoulder and behind the saddle.
He was a lot better for a while but then started getting a little 'off' again
I suddenly made the connection to the cubes and asked company how much starch was in the feed as it didn't list it ANYWHERE a massive 20% despite giving the impression it was low starch!!!!!
I was shocked and switched to high fibre cubes
As I have been recovering from ankle surgery I had not seen him move for about 3/4 wks but when I lunged him yesterday he was back to his old self
Nothing else had changed
Despite my last horse suffering from confirmed EPSM I must say I was still surprised at how much difference it had made to a non EPSM horse!!
So all those who have horses with slight gait or lameness problems or constantly needing a chiro do look very carefully
