I just wanted to say thanks for all of the recommendations/advice regarding clippers suitable for nervous horses.
We ended up phoning Peasridge and they were extremely helpful (I would highly recommend them). We're currently loaning a pair of Aesculap cordless to try before we buy and so far, they've been a success on the first go.
My old boy is extremely nervous with the yard clippers and he was a bit wary to start with but he let us stand next to him with the trial clippers running. He normally has to be 'on the floor' and even then he still fights the sedation.
Our second horse also had to be sedated before but he stood perfectly and let my dad take a bit off under his neck.
Tomorrow we're going to clip him properly, hopefully with the nervous nelly standing next to him so he can see it's not a big deal.
It's rather sad how excited I am about being able to clip whenever I want
So, wish me luck. Hopefully Timbi won't end up with wonky lines and tram tacks.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
