It’s years since I‘ve jumped a horse in a hackamore, so when I had to through necessity last week I thought I should jump online and check my knowledge was sound before I subjected my horse to this.
OMG! What I found were articles which were really just rambling blogs with spelling mistakes and questionable grammar, videos with pretty women talking for 12 minutes but no sign of a horse, sales videos for hackmores that were not hackamores, fitting advice that was just crackers defying logic and one single clip of a professional SJer schooling in a hackamore.
On the written articles/blogs I nearly lost my mind. Zero structure in the writing. Some of these folk were advertising their skills as trainers as well. If they can’t structure a couple of paragraphs to convey a message succinctly, how would they ever structure a training session or lesson?
I resorted to the old fashioned knowledge sharing and paid a respected local SJer to check I had fitted it correctly and to give me a lesson to ensure I was using it correctly and it was not having a negative impact on my horse.
I love the sharing of knowledge, which is why I enjoy this forum so much, as there are so many smart folk on here. But gosh what an eye opener when I was searching for my hackamore content.
