Saw a horse advertised in H&H about a month ago, e-mailed the lady about it, she e-mailed me some info/photo's but by the time I had arranged to go and see the horse, someone else had bought it. Ok, so i just left it at that.

Saw this same horse advertised last week, e-mailed the girl and yes it is still for sale - alarm bells started ringing and I wondered if the previous owner knew it was up for sale again.

E-mailed previous owner and she didn't know anything about it being up for sale! The lady that bought it off her, brought it home, then the next day, put a saddle on it and lunged it, it bronked badly and wouldn't be led, wouldn't let the girl pick out it's feet, wouldn't let anyone near it etc etc so the girl phones up previous owner and complained saying 'I thought this was a hacking horse needing schooling' - it isn't so buy it back off me. Previous owner turns around and says No she can't afford it nor has she got the time but agrees to go and see the horse to see if she can see what the matter is, so she travels 30 mins to see this horse and it was a little lively and bucked a few times.

The girl threatens her, saying if you don't buy it back off me, I will take legal action. Previous owner just ignores this threat and has never heared anything since.

Previous owner tells me, the girl has 'blown the horse's brains' completely and ruined it, she would pay more than £500 for it now.

Current owner tells me, it is friendly, laid-back, was a little unhappy when it first came to her, but is now fine, it is just a bigger project than she expected hence put him up for sale!

Current owner also tells me that when she went to pick the horse up from previous yard, the horse stopped infront of the trailer and wouldn't walk on so previous owner asked her if she wanted her to drug it to load it

Also, that it was originally up for £2500 but let it go for £950 to her and that even though it was sold was a hacking horse that needed work, she wasn't allowed to ride it, it was sold from field only.

Horse sounds really lovely but don't know who I believe and what is true/what isn't! Current girl is asking £1200 but would let it go for £950 at a push (this is what she paid for it) to get her money back. Previous owner is telling me at the moment, in her opinion, it is worth no more than £500 as current girl has blown it's brians!

What a dodgy situation, I must say

Personally I simply wouldn't get involved.

How can the 'new' owner have ruined the horse in a day?????

Dodgy, dodgy, dodgy. Steer well clear.

Agree with Amy May. Sounds like you could be walking into trouble.
If you have between £1000 and £2000 to spend, you should be able to find a nice hack without the grief that this one seems to be coming with.

Sounds like sort of thing me and Josafiend usually end up with!!! If you have time knowledge and space, go see it, maybe you'll spot something. May not have 'blown its brains' may have 'hurt it's back' in transit for example. Be carefull though.
