Well firstly the weather...... Wow, at this rate I'll be drowned by the evening.....if I haven't been blown off a cliff!

secondly..... My horses has some interesting ways of keeping me on my toes! I was out to a PC rally today (yes in this rain, but it was indoors, not that it made much difference)
however I get to the yard and horses are out.... Ok I think, I'll get them in now, by an hour they will be reasonable dry, then I can leave with a dry, clean horses.

i walk down to the field sideways, getting wet everywhere! Get to the gate and wonder why my horse's rug is a darker colour, and not stripy as his heavy turnout is... And where has his neck gone? And his headcollar? And why is his rug literally stuck to him? Takes a few minutes to realise that on a day with 35mph wind, sideways rain and PC rally to get to my horse has removed his heavy weight turnout, with all clips still attached, and removed his quite tightly fitting headcollar to strip down to a cotton sheet..... Not only this he ROLLED in his cotton sheet and one side of him was totally plastered in mud!

i found his rug and headcollar dumped in a nice deep puddle, with mud both inside and out....... I don't think it will be suitable for use again!

to top it all off I couldn't catch him and he would only walk up to his stable with his nose in a bucket of feed!

so I had planned to bath him at some time....however he ended up having a bath in the rain!!! And of course I had a bath with him! I did get to my rally though, so not all lost!

anyone want to recommend me a new heavy turnout with detachable neck? For a 15.3 Irish tb?

Will a good wash not work for it?

Weatherbeeta rugs for me all the way, although Prem Equine normally have some good deals!

ahaha i can't stop laughing xD My horse (27yrs) also removed his under rug from under his turnout with all straps still together :o I have a river running down my field (quite literally) into the over flowing pond >.>

Take it to a rug person and they will be able to get it back to new - They did it with mine :)

I haven't had a very close look, but some of the straps must have been ripped off, and the whole thing is in a complete muddy mess and is going to take ages to dry....I really think it isn't worth the effort!

(Plus it's an excuse for a new rug!)

Oh right, a Premier Equne then! :3

Brilliant

As for a rug, we bought ( for our 15.3 irish TB) a weatherbeeta, with detachable neck. Hasnt rubbed, and stays in place.

All mine escaped yesterday into the 'forbidden' field, so had to go and get them out, hadnt realised how much mud there was in the gateway, ran through it, but got stuck and left my boots behind, ended up standing in mud no boots just socks. I very nearly went head first too.

Please stop raining now.

Thank you! I will have a look at both weatherbeeta and premier equine! One of them may suit!

Yes I think we have had enough rain...... Our field is under water tonite!

Well done for making it to your rally. I would suggest an Amigo Bravo heavy rug. I have several and they are great.
