I totally agree, I've been following this issue for a while now (joined the facebook group and everything!) it's a typical short sighted law that has been forced through with no thought being given to the animals welfare.
We would all love to have horses living to a good old age well looked after and a dignified end as mine do.
Reality - life sucks and animals that would be far better off taken to the slaughter horse are left to suffer or be travelled long distances due to well meaning but total idiots with no idea of real life.
Far better a short trip to the slaughter house that is well run and regulated, than hours of travel to a bad end or left/dumped suffering in a field to die a lingering death.
Well done animal welfare - you really did a lot of help this time - far better you had put the energy into creating good slaughter houses than the solution you came up with.
Here we are campaigning for shorter transporting distances for slaughter horses, there they are with horses travelling thousands of miles as a result of legislation! It didn't take a genius to work out that that would happen. What do they think will happen to the no longer wanted, badly bred, none broken animals they have?
Hi, I've never posted on the Forum before, but I wanted to add my agreement to all that has been written on this post. Can anyone tell me the name of Facebook group that is mentioned in an earlier post?
