So this weekend I've had an absolute ball at Your Horse Live

Firstly I was picked to be a demo rider for Lynn Russell in the Nettex Arena, very early start as my lad is field kept, his clip is almost grown out and due to work commitments I didn't have the chance to re-clip him. I'd heard Lynn frowns on dressage saddles so decided to go dressed for working hunter, meaning I could wear my GP and martingale etc, but my boy was amazing. He's never been in that type of arena with crowds so close, I'm so flipping proud of him. We were in the ring with county level showers, yet we've only ever done 2 shows, but he didn't let me down. Apparently he had the best walk out of the four in there, which sounds like nothing but it is incredible to me as we've had to work so hard to train his walk for his dressage.

Then on the Sunday I was working as arena staff in the main arena, helping Paul, Ben and Charlotte, being on first name terms with some of the best, helping them out and not having to que for a seat. It really was the best best weekend ever

Didn't go but saw your vid of P on line!! Looked fab, bloody well done!!! Having seen him at other venues we have all been at, he was impeccably behaved for such a BIG event!! Very proud of you both!!! xx

Someone else said they'd seen a video online, I can't find it.

Thank you!! I'm trying to work out who you are now...

wow that sounds a fantastic weekend , you must be so proud of him!
we were there on Sunday and had a fantatisic time
we saw the Ben and Paul demo, which was hillarious and the 3pm Charlotte demo, so may have seen you in there ;-)

Well done and what fun for you. Saw the last ten minutes of that demo as waiting for the biomechanics one after. Must admit wasn't over impressed (not with you but the demo) but hopefully the rest of it was better.

You certainly would have seen me then because I was in the arena for the Ben and Paul Clinic ;) I was the door girl for Paul and Stevie the Shetland :D

I took a lot out of it, but none of us were told what we were doing before we went it there. If you saw my lad not letting me get back on it wasn't him being naughty, the woman get pulling on his mouth which makes him rear. I've got screws in my knee and wasn't told I'd be needing to get on and off in the demo hence why I couldn't get back on because their block was too low for me :(

Yes thought you could have been offered a bit more help at that point. I take steps into the ring as I have bad knee. Just thought that when you were told your horse needed more trimming that could have said where and why and what the aims of that are, perhaps suggest how to plait to show off neck etc. Anyway it's winter and they are not going to be in showing trim at present. Really good comment to have about the walk. First and last thing judge sees 😄

I saw you! I thought you did very well.

I enjoyed the demo but found Lynn Russell quite abrupt and a bit like your stereotypical riding instructor that you see on the telly. She told the kids that had volunteered to be stewards"You're not listening!" instead of actually instructing them, even though it was clear that they didn't have any idea about what to do.

But as a newbie to showing, I thought the whole thing was quite informative, even though we are apparently only to use Nettex products! lol

Ha, I once tried a young horse out to buy, with a very well known dressage trainer. I have never been so patronised, given a proper old fashioned "yelling" riding lesson, when actually all that had happened was that they had put me on a much greener horse than I had asked them for. Horrible experience!

We had a wonderful time. Weve never been into showing but we got some wonderful feedback and to be told he has potential in showing made it worthwhile. Majorly topped by being put first with our walk gait because we have had to work hard in our walk for our dressage
