Yesterday morning got up to yard to find my wee mare with a huge solid swollen udder. She was obviously under the weather as she was shivering so put her to bed for the day.
Went back up about 3 and she was sooo depressed and not her usual self so got the vet out. She's got a form of mastitis which is weird cos she's a maiden mare. She was released of some milk and had a temperature of 40 and an elevated heart rate.
She got a huge dose of antibiotics and is on double dose of antibiotics for the rest of the week. Thankfully took her temp today and she's back to normal and seems more brighter. The lump has softened a bit so hopefully will start to go down soon. She's like Jordan without the glamour at the mo!
Rode my big boy again this morning (he's had a year off due to my confidence issues with him!!). He's such a sweetie now and behaved impecably. Think he's enjoying being ridden again and having something to do.
Weekend of highs and lows but everything seems to be going good, touch wood!!
