I meant more when buying a project. Is it all about affiliated shows or does unaff competitions do anything to value?

Temperment
Conformation
How its like to ride
Track record for comps'
hunting and jumping attitude
Loads well,clips well,no vices

i'm not interested in a horses competition record at all because i alway buy horses to bring on myself.
Temperament is a main factor i cant be bothered with kicking and biting and barging etc mainly because i cant be their to handle them all the time i rely on others in the mornings and dont see why they should have to deal with a sh1t of a horse.
Conformation they have to be reasonably well put together.
preferably no stable vices however it wouldnt totally put me off.
i generally prefer to buy an unbroken horse however if it was broken then i'd like it to be reasonably good in traffic and it would have to hack on its own.
good to box shoe and clip
those are my main things i look for

I would think that a good affiliated record is worth more than a good unaff record. But then again a bad record can do more harm than good.

i would say if its already affiliated its not much of a project as its already well established ! That doesnt mean however the horse has no vices, or is good to do in other ways.
On the other hand a horse thats regulary competing at local level shows and doing well i would consider just as valuable...its easy to affiliate..fill in a form doesnt nessasarily mean the horse is doing well in its competitions!
I would look for something tht has potential, thats not established already and something thats got a good temprement, good conformation and no issues hacking travelling etc. Good luck finding a project.

if you are buying to sell on and looking to add value in between i would try it hunting and get it out unaffiliated.

a good unaffiliated record will put a green horse from around £2k up to £4k ish.

to affiliate and do well (double clears/ placings at lower levels) would add approx another £2k- however the training, petrol, entries, registration etc would come to well over £500 so you have to be quite sure they are going to do well and have no blips
