I started riding properly when I was 11, however Ihad had the occasional ride since I was about 5. I'm just so glad that a friend I made as I went up to senior school had just grown out of her "pony for life" and it needed exercising by someone just my height! So it is her fault that I am now as horsey as I am.
I had 10 lessons for my 11th birthday, i rode a bay but cant remember his name, they also had a lovely roan called Banjo.
I was nearly 18 when i bought my first pony, a cheeky welsh X called Star.
Started aged 4 on a lovely grey pony called Tommy, had small break when my RI was killed in a car accident when I was about 7, started again aged 8/9 I think
I was 4 & 13 when I got my first horse. But mum & dad were very good at taking me for lessons every week when i was younger. Neither of them were horsey at all & so they waited until i was old enough to do most of the care myself before i was allowed a horse of my own.
I was about 9/10 yrs old started hanging about with my mum's friend at her livery yard. Started off getting bareback shots on a retired horse, I used to sit on him and walk about the field while the owner was schooling her younger horses. One day he decided he wasn't retired and cantered off back to his stable jumping a wire fence in the process. They kindly let me have shots on their other pony after this and it all went from there. I'll never forget Trampus, I think he was only 15hh but he seemed like a giant to me and he had curly hair (cushings I presume) but I loved sitting on him
Started last year when i was 40ish. The usual case of "can't beat 'em join 'em". Never even been near a beastie before I was 38. Totally uninterested and to be honest slightly repulsed until I got to know my wife's horse. Been downhill ever since
C'mon Guys! don't let all the OH's hog all the fun! You'd be surprised - it is fun.
