I have a K reg Man 7.5 ton that doesnt have air con in the cab but just wondering when most lorry manufacturers started putting them in as standard like on cars. would bee looking at Leyland Daf, Merc or Man when i upgraded. Also when did the newer gearboxes with little gearsticks come in as mine has a great long gearstick.

Hi
Short answer is-they haven't!Having worked on various makes and models over the past 15-odd years(I used to work at Olympic-until we all got the boot:( )I've only seen a very few that had cab a/c which had been ordered "ex factory".You might be lucky and find one that has been done later, but unfortunately there are far more which don't have it as it's such an expensive "option".

Look for the "later shape" MAN cab-the one with 3 windscreen wipers-that's the one with the stubby gear lever.Think that came in about 1994ish,so L or M reg onwards.I found the seats in them very hard-altho perhaps that's becos I spent hours sitting in the cab wiring up switches and the like:)

Hope this helps
