I have tried Global Herbs for my spooky boy and have nearly finished the tub and it hasn't made any difference to his behaviour! Can anyone recommend another product, please!
I use feedmark steady up advance and it really works to just take the edge of my boy, hes on box rest at the moment and it is working wonders in keeping him calm
I use TopSpec calmer which is brilliant! Contains L-tryptophan which is an amino acid that makes up serotonin, the chemical in the brain that makes you happy/content. Works in a similar way to anti-depressants! Also found in Equine America's So Kalm plus. Different calmers work on different horses though so I'm afraid it's trial and error!
Agree with the above poster, it's case of trial and error. Also I would look at the routine/food that your ned gets, as most of the time a change in management has a big impact in a calmer horse.
another thing to note is, try a mag based calmer (like magnitude cheapo option) if that doesn't work than your horse is not lacking in magnesium so steer clear from those mag based calmers as the active ingredient is mag! (nupafeed is supposed to be the best magnesium based calmer)
so kalm
oxyshot (although i dont know if they do this as a supplement that can be fed everyday, more of a use when needed thing)naf magic calmer
magnitude
supreme products 'diffuse'
agree with the above, every horse is different, some work on one whilst they won't on another. i've tried all the above and some made a small difference, but then my horse isn't the spooky type, he's just very strong and sharp!
trial and error is the only way im afraid!!
I've just started using Magnitude (Equine America) on my very sharp German WB and it definitely has made a big difference, extremely quickly. Recommend it!
