So my horse can't be ridden for a month so I'm gonna teach her some tricks and stuff on the ground. she's good at going sideways and turning on her forehand and haunches but I want to teach her something new,.

So, what does your horse do? From the small to the magnificent!!! Post them here!! And if you really want, tell us all how to train them to do it...unless its a secret :p

My pony's amazing talent - converting thin air and a very restricted diet to fat! I have yet to discover how he does it. :O

Aside from that I did some de-spooking with him in-hand including walking over a tarpaulin, backing up between poles and putting said tarpaulin on his head. :D

Barney is stunningly good at rearing out in the paddock when he's having a mad moment. He is perfectly balanced and can stay up for ages (not a useful skill I grant you, but impressive non the less)

Old mare has one brilliant thing, in the stable she only poops in one place and never ever disturbs it or lies in it. Sooooo easy to muck out, it takes seconds and her rugs are always clean. Other than that she's completely useless these days with her dodgy pins, but is my big pet so that's ok :D

Imagine a horse is actually a very good site, the forum is friendly and everyone is very helpful.:)

if you hold his headcollar out in front of him hel shoce his nose through it for you :)
and when picking out his hooves if you poke his leg and say 'this one' he picks it up :)

^^ both of these are when hes feeling cooperative

When mum needs to pass me something say a headcollar if I stand in java's stable and java has his head over the door mum can pass java things to pass to me :), yesterday she held the headcollar infront of him and he picked it up swung round and gave it to me

He also puts his nose in headcollar and dips his head so you can get his bridle off

Here's three of the tricks Lucy my amazing mare used to do. :D

She would also give me a kiss, take a treat GENTLY from my mouth, Give me a cuddle (Put her chin on my shoulder and I'd put my arms round her head just behind her ears), When she loose schooled she could change the rein on command, She could pickup one of those jolly balls (the ones with the handles on the top) and put it in a bucket, I could ride her walk, trot, canter and jump without any tack on.
Some of her unwanted tricks included opening stable doors (her own and everyone elses  Taking her headcoller off/ undoing her rope, Escaping from the field :mad::p:p:D:D
I love this mare so so much and miss her more with everyday :(:(

After being with me for 3 months now, my big mare no longer smacks the door down like she did when she arrived.
When I'm opening the door - she previously barged out/at me - thus causing at best broken fingernails or worse like a bruised body somewhere - but she now stands there politely waiting for me to come into her box or put her headcollar on... baby steps, but very nice ones :)

Mine will leg it away from anyone who ducks down..... not a particually usefull skill unless trying to clear the gateway to the field as hes the herd leader so do that and they all follow ;). VERY unhelpful though when your riding and some idiot ducks down to hold onto their dog or something and we go flying :p..... you would think they would know better haha!!

Our little Sec A will untie himself and wander off the instant you take your eyes off him. His Previous owners said they used to attach 2 leadroped to his head collar and tie both to the string on the tying ring-we tried this and he removed his headcoollar instead! My horse was tied next to him and she was staring at him with her eyes wide open as if to say "wow how the hell did he do that?!"

He also managed to remove his headcollar and bridle in the lorry every time he is travelled, even if it is just a 10 minute trip. Looks very smug when you open the ramp and find him!

He hates wearing his brushing boots but my little girl insists on putting them on him to jump. if he thinks you arent looking he sort of leans back onto his hocks, crosses his front legs over and rubs his front legs together til they come off, sometimes using his teeth to help him. He has had 2 new pairs incase it was cause they didnt fit properly but he is the same with all of them! So funny to watch him, he is a little pickle!

Beau can untie virtually any knot, backfired a bit as I left the gate key tied on her rope, no idea where key is now. Also the other lady at the yard will leave the gates open if Beau is tied up, I only tie her up out of habit, if she gets bored she will undo it.

Ice is currently enjoying carrying things in her mouth like a dog. Not bad to say it took me 2 months to get her to open her mouth for the bit!!

I can beat that. Mine converts £10 notes into little brown balls which he grinds into his coat.

When she was on box rest I taught my Welshie to 'fetch' a dog toy. You start by breaking the actions down into very small pieces ie, touch the toy, pick it up, carry it, bring it to me etc. She appeared to enjoy it a lot. Be warned though - they soon start suggesting refinements to the game:D.

One thing that I've always been wary of is encouraging anything that can become a bit scary out of context if they want to 'play' - which is why I won't do jambette/spanish walk with this particular pony (a quick kneecapping anyone?!!!!)

Pmsl, mine is a dab hand at the same!!

She does put up with me being a total scardy cat idiot on many occasion.

She didn't freak out (though did stop paying much attention to me) when the horse in the next arena turned himself inside out and tried to loose his rider - first outing in absolutly ages and she is as green as grass bless her! She just hollared through our test but did at least try and do what I was asking too. I think there was too much going on for her, the horse next door was doing its utmost to bury its rider, bloody thing!

She follows me round the field (I'd like to think it's because she loves me, but I think it's really because I'm the one that controls the food!). She also puts her nose into her bridle and headcollar.

my friends horse says please when it once to go for a ride (or anything else she enjoys doing :p ) and also before you she gets her tea/breakfast.
Some of the horses at work have also developed the talent of shaking off head collars which can lead to very funny catch the pony games as people are trying to tie the ponies back up to be worked - needless to say these are the ponies that are always slowest on treks... typical

Charley does all these on cue.:)
