Due to personal circumstances I need to rehome my mare pretty quickly.
She is 10 years old, 16hh part Warmblood, very loving, I near enough rescued her as when I got her she was in a terrible state, very underweight.
The problem is she isnt really rideable she will probably be ok as a light hack as she is on off lame. This seems to be after lunging. She also windsucks when stabled but not when out.
So really she needs to go as a companion. Where do I start looking for a home for her?

If this reply appears rude, I'll apologise in advance - it's really not meant to be!

Reading your post (the only info I've got) you seem to have 4 options

1) Sell - if you can which I doubt, sending your mare totally out of your control
2) Loan as a companion, again if anybody wants her but what if she comes back? Could you keep her then?
3) Retirement Livery, not cheap and you could be paying for many years as she's only 10.
4) PTS - at least her future is secure but I appreciate it is a very tough decision to make.

She is your responsibility and tbh she hasn't got a huge amount going for her when it comes to find another home, especially in a hurry - IMHO the responsibility falls on you to do what is BEST for her, not what's easiest for you so numbers 3 & 4 seem to be the "decent" things to do.......

If it helps, I do know the feeling because I have a horse that was retired at 11 with behaviour issues, who if I cannot afford to keep him will be PTS as I don't feel it is fair to him to pass him on.....my job is very iffy at the mo & I could be making this decision by the end of the month. It isn't easy but I do see as my responsibility IYKWIM

ETA . The charities are not accepting horses just for rehoming now - only rescues. Sorry

i agree with the PTS option especially for a horse having to be retired rather than them ending being passed about and at a sale.

the charities are still taking some as im going through the process of my horse going to the blue cross now yes he was a rescue when i had him but he is fit and healthy now i just cant afford to keep him ass till paying off £1000's of vet bills and i know he will be safe forever with the blue cross. as his safety is more important than £ i could get.
