What are Shires rugs like ?

I really like my Shires turnout rugs - never slip or rub, and great value. The only thing about the cheaper ones is the tail flap isn't overly generous... Still my first choice though! Waterproof still in the second winter, great fit, nice touches like velcro on chest etc - and cheap enough that if it gets trashed, replacing it won't give me a heart attack :)

Ive just been looking at these, the tempest too. Used to use the Highlander on my last horse which was great but seemed to small for my new boy in his usual size??? So do they come up big or small. My boy is inbetween sizes in a Rambo, so Im not sure whether to go up a size or down??

I have the rambo sweet itch hoodies on the two that I have Shires rugs on in winter. I find I have to have a size bigger in the SI hoody than the Shires rugs, if that is any help.

looks like I'll be the only one with a bad word to say about them !

I had a tempest turnout - it lasted under 24hrs and put up zero resistance to a bit of light play in the field (I saw its demise happen!). The fabric was incredibly flimsy and not what I would expect for a known brand. Its only use after day one was to chop it up to keep for emergency patching of others and put the rest in the bin.

Also found sizes not generous, my lad is a 6'3 in everything, except this where he was a 6'6 and still in danger of having his butt exposed.
