I'd love to know too.... i'm really interested in getting my lad loose schooling to see how he jumps naturally and to see if it gives me some ideas of how to help him when we SJ.
I used to use it with ours young and old to see how they dealt with jumps without me faffing on their backs. Helped prove to me that my horse could jump and could find a stride and get himself out of trouble perfectly well without my help. Younger horse used to love it and helped him learn to pick his feet up! I think it depends thoroughly on the horse!
No! I will always loose school over jumps I think (OK mainly because the kind of height I make my mare jump I am too scared to do now.. lol) But when I can I will still do it I am sure.
It's good I think to allow a horse to think for themselves without the interference of the rider on board...Plus it's good for introducing fillers and things again without hesitation from the rider etc OK, maybe top experts wont have the same opinion but I am not a top expert so it works for me!
