Mare is inseminated on Friday afternoon with good quality chilled semen. But (bless her!) she doesn't ovulate until Monday. Some ladies just cannot be rushed.

What are the chances of a pregnancy from this?

but i have also heard no viable semen but inseminated anyway and mare scans in foal??you may be very lucky???

Good luck with your mare's foaling Whizz. I hope mine follows in her footsteps!

Thanks for all the words of encouragement. She's being scanned again in 2 weeks. I hope she's got a black blob rather than another developing follicle.

Thank you!

best of luck to you... If I remember correctly I was given some drugs to inject her over the weekend to help her along - has the vet done this with you?

We then scanned on the Tuesday morning which confirmed that she had taken..

Do let us know if she takes!

my mare was naturally covered last year on the friday and when she had her scan they said it was only the size as if it had happened on the monday so they called it a delayed conception and said she must of ovulated after covering which gave the difference.
goodluck with your mare!

I've just discovered my mare has had no injections of any sort. Which to be honest has left me speechless. She's been at the AI vets for a whole week and was scanned twice a day yet was left to ovulate in her own sweet time. I really don't understand the logic of this. Is it anything to do with her being an older maiden?
