What are the current going rates for overnight pet sitting and day home visits?

Wonder what the going rates are, please?

The lads used to do this for nothing, of course, when they still lived at home, but it's quite a major inconvenience for them since they've flown the nest. They've been very obliging, but I think it's only fair that we offer them the going rate - they both work in the 'wrong' direction so it adds a lot to their commute on a working day. I'd rather have them in than a randomer.

This is for 1 dog, 1 cat and 3 horses. Both for overnight and for popping in for half an hour during the day (weekends only) to let the dog out and to play with her in the garden.

Day home visit Cheshire for half an hour litter clear, feed and play is £10 for Congleton. Same person will do horses and dogs, similar rate.

One of my female friends owns and runs a dog and pet sitting service here in West Wales, her rates are on her website here, might give you some idea but I think prices here tend to be lower than in England

I pay £11 for a 20 minute pop in visit from the cat sitter, she does litter trays, feeds and waters and gives good cuddles. It’s £16 a visit if it’s the weekend. Hourly rates are a bit more (don’t have them to hand as 20 min pop in is enough) believe the same rates apply if it’s dogs/small animals. That’s Lincs way, my mum is north Shropshire and I believe pays £20/hr for a freelance groom for the horses, currently has a free dog sitter (older lady retired no longer has her own dogs so does it occasionally for the love of it) but was quoted between £50-100 for overnight stays.

One of my colleagues does pet sitting and charges 25-30 per night for dogs and cats. Her rates vary according to the times of the year so there are peak times which normally coincide with school holidays. However she does wfh on some days so can combine that with AL to do bookings in situations where pets cannot be left alone during the working day.

I would expect looking after horses perhaps to be more expensive than small pets just as there is less competition lots of people are capable of looking after a dog or cat and deal with minor issues but horses much harder especially if needing to pick out feet and check legs and soundness.

I'm trying to find out the same. I've got a friends daughter doing a 24 hour stay, 2 dogs, 2 horses and a blind cat (which will probably be the biggest hassle). I've previously paid £10 for a half hour visit to feed dogs and horses but no idea what to give her for an overnight.

I have a housesitter (Yorkshire) who charges £45 per day, no specified number of animals but presumably would not take the job if there were 10 horses and twenty dogs to look after. She’s a lot cheaper than your friend, Oz - it looks as though I would be charged around £75 in Wales. However she is also giving up as would like to spend more time at home.

ETA if she were to start her sit at lunchtime one day, and finish at lunchtime the second, that would count as two days (most kennels will charge as two days too)

I've just had a housesitter for 3 dogs & 2 horses, she only took the dogs round my own fields about 15 mins & poo picked horses field which was 60 for 24 hrs .

I charge £35 per 24hours for cats and dogs, would probably add on another £10 for horses depending what needed doing

I pay £50 to feed 5 dogs and hay/check 3 horses who live out. Overnight included. Sitter also works as a carer and dog walker so in in and out during the day doing her other jobs. If she was expected to be here more of the time I would expect to pay at least £75. Dogs get a run round a 10 acre fenced field at home 3x a day plus garden access.

We've settled on £15 for a c30 minute day visit, and £45 per overnight stay. All parties are happy with this arrangement, especially the dog who loves it when either or both of the lads come round .

Last time son no 1 house sat for us he had to take it as holiday, because although he's supposed to be able to wfh two days a week at his new job his work laptop had yet to arrive.
