what are the german scales of training?

i was told in a reccent dressage test (on the sheet) that to improve i should use the german scales of training as this would help a lot however i feel really dumb because i dont know what they are ? can anyone help?

Once you've achieved them all your horse will go very nice but if you struggle with one then most likely you won't achieve another. But you can use others to help. For example you can use suppleness to help with impulsion.
 
Well there's loads of things.
Best thing is to get a RI who knows the scales to come and give you a lesson as I could sit here typing about them for hours. :p

I believe there are two versions, this was later updated? I've been taught that relaxation is at the bottom of the scale. Makes sense to me, how can you have the others if you don't have true relaxation first? My trainer says that the reason so many riders reach a plateau that they can't go past is because they didn't establish true relaxation.
