Hi folks, my friend has just bought these (pics below) from a local auction and is wondering what they are. They seem like they would attached to a driving harness some way and have jingly bells on them. The one with horse hair on it seems like it would screw into the roller part of the harness, but I'm not sure.

Anyone seem these before or know what they are? Cheers.

They are beautiful - they are exactly as you guessed :) They screw onto the harness saddle - very fancy and the bells are a jingly warning that the horses are coming :) They are really expensive and much sought after. Not sure what the torpedo shaped item is, but likely for attachment on the harness or maybe the shafts?

Thanks folks. Do you know how the one with the leather strap would fit onto a harness? I just can't work it out as it seems it wouldn't be secure.

Gorgeous and quite valuable.

My Gran used to have several sets of the bells and when I was tiny she would stand outside and rattle them on Christmas Eve, telling me it was Santa's sled on the way.
