What are you doing with your horses at the moment?

It's much worse here! we have 19inches of snow... our horses are turned out and are perfectly happy! But haven't ridden in about 3/4 weeks... only got an outdoor school and the jumps are slowly disappearing under the snow! really want to get riding and competitng again asap!

well nothing at all for the last 3 weeks- they ahave been out in the field every day but only for a few hours. we aren't allowed to put hay out so they get bored. snow is packing in their feet but they have been very sensible so far. took advantage of some melting yesterday to take my 4 year old up to my trainers- he is going to stay there until it melts- she has an indoor so i can go up after work and ride. hopefully the TB at home can still just go out for a few hours everyday...our arena is rock hard under all the snow, i think it will be weeks before it is melted....

I was discussing this with my Mum yesterday and we both agreed that our 3 horses have chosen the best winter to be off games as we wouldn't have been able to ride much anyway. I feel very sorry for all of you who have fit horses but nowhere to ride.

My two were hunted on New Years Eve and haven't been ridden
since. They've been going on the walker once or twice a day for the last week...and yesterday and today we turned them out in a foot of snow for an hour or so...they loved it and were fine. Packed their feet with grease and the balling was minimal ;-)

Mine has been in all week, with an evening leg stretch every day in the school/led around the yard. She went out yesterday for the first time and was a bit crazy

and went hacking yesterday for the first time being ridden for just over a week... we were slightly hyper

managed to school today as the menage was fine, ust a light covering of snow. Hopefully, this week it is back to normal, other than the fact she will be in a majority of the time i think, with an hour or so's turnout or work in the morning.

Toto hasn't been ridden since last Saturday, and we got soaked when it started snowing anyway!

Our sand school is under a few centimeters of snow and is frozen solid

He's been turned out everyday, except for one day when the yard was very icy

Turning out for 3-4 hours in the morning, they come in at lunchtime and then I try to do something with them in the afternoon - horsewalker, back in the field for an hour, walk in hand etc. Before the 2nd lot of snow I dug a track round the edge of the school so I could do a bit of walk and trot but I can't face doing that again now it's re-covered up with snow!
So not a lot basically.
