What are you looking forward to this winter?

Hate winter. No sunlight and horses cooped up in stables for too long. Even the promise of my all weather track system (fingers crossed) isn't compensation for sunny meadows.

Losing the last bit of my baby weight so I can get back on my 5yo whose backing process was rudely interrupted by pregnancy.
And spring, so I can ride him some more, hopefully with some better weather and childcare!!
And with that, continuing breaking our sec a to drive, which has also been put on hold.
Oh and being tucked up on a winters eve knowing the boys are eating themselves warm, camped by the enormous bales they'll be working their way through!
I actually rather like winter horse care (ok, ask me to say that again in feb!)

Riding again - I hope to at least be on a riding school plod by early next year (currently injured). I'm also looking forward to seeing my as yet unbuilt stables and manège in action (assuming I get planning)!

My lovely mum has just bought me some new clippers so my sister can have my old ones - so I'm looking forward to clipping! I keep eyeing up my cob's full feathers, is it wrong to clip them off just because de-burring them is getting a bit tedious?!
Can't beat a nice frosty morning and the sound of munching hay as well!

I am super excited.......

Because Henry is coming home next week!! Which means I get all winter to play with him :)

He's a giant 4yo baby ISH who has been off at Boarding school since he came over from Ireland. I can't wait to just get on him and get him out hacking.

Aims: Get to know each other properly, establish basic schooling, do a little bit of loose schooling to keep him entertained, and to get him out hacking, without going splat on the floor too often....

I love crisp winter hacking too. Nothing better than wrapping up warm, going out just after sunrise on a chilly day. Nothing to hear but the sound of Red's breathing and his hooves and seeing our breaths in the air. Absolutely love it.

Saturdays in winter... Riding out early then going in to have breakfast and watch the Morning Line when the proper NH racing is on, none of the boring flat stuff... Going back out and getting anything that needs doing done before watching Ch4 Racing in the afternoon :)

Cold frosty mornings, the horses in their big winter rugs, hacking out through frosty fields when noone else is up, riding out in exercise blankets, giving extra feed at breakfast and teatime, horses munching their haylage and seeing their breath in the cold air, the smell of haylage rather than hay, not worrying about spring grass or flies...i love winter!

I love cold, crisp winters - can't be doing with another wet winter!

I'd love winter if it wasn't dark all the time :( So depressing turning him out when still dark in morning (have to be at work by 7.30!) and bringing in when dark :(

But I do love the sound of him munching his hay, lovely big rugs and tucking him up at night :)

Please send it down to us in Dorset! And also I want sunny and crisp days with the temperature slightly below zero.

I don't think that's too much to ask for.

Dorset needs this! I'd joyfully deal with snow and cold sunny days over high winds and rain that im not going to ride in anyway!

I'm looking forward to seeing my horses snug in their stables, massive thick straw beds, giant hay nets and out of the elements looking happy, then going home for my hot bath and a glass of wine! My horses are wimps though... They'd come in every night of the year quite happily.

Riding mid-week, as I am leaving work in September and will only be doing part-time consultncy type work :) No long commute and lots of time during the day :D

No headshaking! We can do dressage again :) lots of Autumn/Winter leagues coming up so plenty to be doing every weekend.

The fact i don't have to worry every day how fat the pony is - i feel terrible him having to stay in the school some nights in the sumer while the rest are out in the field but he just gets too fat
And Olympia of course - can't wait :D

i also prefer how much more routine winter is - pony goes out in morning, get him in in the evening, ride, put back in stable. Every one at the yard does the same so it just seem more organised.
