Anyone want to share what their four year olds (2010 babies) and 5 year olds are up to?
We have 4 of our homebred four year olds who are coming back into work shortly and 5 of our 5 year olds out jumping in their 2nd show this year ready for the age classes!

Anyone want to share some pictures or videos? I need to work out how to upload!
I think it's lovely to see what other people's youngsters are up to :)

My 5 year old pony and I are slowly starting out on our competitive career, we have done local show jumping and Eventer Trials as well as a hunter trial in the summer where we finished 8th. Taking things steady as she is my first youngster and just making sure we enjoy ourselves :) Can't figure out how to upload pics!

My rising 5 yr old (new to me) was only backed about 2 months ago and we are just getting to grips with the basics, Hes learning quick and I hope to get him out and about this season doing a bit of local dressage and shows.

I have just found out that Harvey is a 5 year old, not a 6 year old as I originally thought - so gone from feeling pressure to realising he is brilliant for his age! We are hunting (only jumping when I really have to!), and having some jumping schooling at the minute. As soon as the season ends we'll move on to x country schooling and have some fun over the summer!

My rising 5 year old is doing lots of hacking and a bit of schooling. She's been out to a lesson and to a little walk/trot dressage, and is popping some tiny jumps from trot (her canter is still quite poor because it's HUGE and she needs to learn to contain it but that will come)

I backed her in July/August and we've been taking it dead slow because I'm paranoid and also had some personal problems over the winter which meant horses took the back seat a bit.

my 5 year old is learning to be a working hunter pony so is learning to jump and go correctly she is entered for a HOYS class this year but only because it is local. Just discovered she is smaller than I thought so will get to jump in the lower classes which is good for this year so pray she doesnt grown too much in the next few months if at all

My 2 5 YO's have just started going to SJ competitions, with the aim, if they are ready and good enough to do the 5 YO classes.

So far they have done a couple of clear round days, then progressed to 1 unaffiliated class, and have done a couple of BSJA classes

They have loved every trip, and now get excited when they see the trailer. Harry has been really laid back about jumping up to the last 2 occasions, hes now taking the jumps on, and even got a little cocky last weekend, thinking he knows it all ! Mirren, shes learning to slow down, as she prefers to go flat out.

Looking forward to this year to see how they turn out. Its no issue if they aren't up to big classes, as that means my daughter and I will take the ride on. By then they will have had a good education.

we are off to a comp tomorrow, so will post some pics then

Just finished a seasons hunting with ours, so am going to spend the summer working on his flatwork and introducing coloured poles, with the aim to have him out a couple of local shows by the end of the summer.

Then back to hunting as this is where his talents really lie!

My rising 5 year old (May) was lightly backed in her old home in September. I got her in November and turned her away until Jan. She is currently hacking more than anything, just started hacking alone, popping a few jumps and will start proper schooling in the summer. Doing a few local shows this year so she can try her hand at a bit of jumping, WH, in hand, showing and handy pony then i'll decide where we go from there once I've seen what she can do.

My rising 4yr old cob is doing groundwork for his second season of in hand showing, he is hacked out walking, trotting and short canters twice a week and just started doing pole work, we are being gentle with him though, as he had a less than gentle starting

My 5 year olds prep for eventing this season is going fab ! Her dressage is getting better & better, shes getting fitter & so much stronger with her jumping! Cant wait to take her xc schooling & depending on ground our 1st ode at 80 maybe on 6th april !! Scary but v.exciting :)

Same. Glad I'm not the only one who's rising 5 year old is not out taking on the world!! Was beginning to get a complex!

Mine is schooling at home, hacking and has done one intro class, which he won! He's doing a prelim in April. Other than that, he's mainly having a nice time in the field and occasionally pushing his luck!!

My 5 YO had the winter off and has just come back into work doing hacking mainly with the aim of doing some novice show classes this year, he has still got loads of maturing to do though so we are taking it slowly. My 4 YO I haven't done anything with yet but going to start the prep for backing him this month.

My 4 year old is having an easy year... he came out of racing in June '13 and I'm a strong believer in that ex racers take a year to get the racing bug out of their system. He's capable of basic schooling, polework and hacking but I've limited his workload to a maximum of 3 sessions a week. We did an Intro dressage test at the beginning of the year, and i'll probably take him in-hand showing later in the summer, but that's it really, i had my last ex racer for a very long time and I'm hoping i'll have him for a long time too, so i'm not in any rush.

My boy is 4 this month. He was broken at 3 before I bought him and hasn't been ridden since I got him in December. I have walked him in hand round the farm a few times and he has had his tack on but I have just left him to grow up at his own pace.

He has been getting used to cows, large farm machinery, lorries with air brakes and the farrier. Once I start to ride it will be gentle hacking round the farm and a bit of light schooling in the arena as I don't intend putting shoes on him until he is quite relaxed about his feet being handled.

My rising 5 year old is hacking out and that's all. She hacks out alone and still has some growing to do as always looks bum high, then evens out and then goes bum high again! I am a great believer in hacking out with young horses.

My 5yo (5 the end of June) is hacking out alone and in company, has been hunting where he was a saint, flatwork schooling at novice with some elementary but competing prelim and jumping 90-100 at home, competing around the 80 mark :)

My rising 4 year old was trained to ride over Christmas and I am just hacking out and training on my hacks. I have no plans to do a lot at my age and in my health.
