What are your ambitions??

Well.. for my 4 little invalids it is to keep them happy, healthy, loved and cherished.
I guess an aim for Boo would be to manage to do more than a walk before the year is out (been out of proper work since November). I'd love to have a canter on her by November this year. But that might be wishful.

As for Bill and Pally... I'd like to get Pally out to do a local SJ class and a XC class.. but after today's events thats not looking too hopeful.
Bill - Don't let him kill me :P

To be perfectly honest and selfish.. I'd love to have my own horse. Something that I can buy cheaply, bring on, teach and dedicate most of my time to. But that is incredibly wishful and won't happen for a good few years which I fully accept.

Maiden:
short-term - keep her from injuring herself on her time off
long-term - find her sound when she finishes her time off in June, then bring her back into hacking work and find a lovely novicey hacking home for her to spend her days pottering around
Cookie:
short-term - jump him at least once a week, take him to some prelim/ novice unaff dressage, take him to some small unaff SJ competitions
long-term - jump 3' on him, take him XC schooling (without falling off!), start jumping in bigger SJ competitions
new horse:
buy new horse! Then take new horse to camp in April, and do everything I should have done with Maiden but never got around to doing before her injury
me:
my long-long-long-term ambitions are to ride a GP test competently (not necessarily in competition though), and to do a BE intro class

Short term- win the scholarship and prenovice driving 3 day event next week end

Long term- go to autriainternational next year and do that national ciruit driving

Overall aim-pony 4 in hand competitvely

A former boss asked me this question. She looked rather confused when I said (with an absolutely staight face) "World Domination." My 2nd choice was to be some rich woman's kept man.

My ambition is one day to do BE Intro with Brooklyn (bay in signature). Had hoped to be doing lots of hunter trials & unaff ODEs this year but combination of bad weather & occasional lameness had meant most of our comps have been called off.
Also I have turned into a leaky sieve as far as confidence goes - I keep losing my confidence jumping

and have to keep going back to Square One with tiny fences. So not so good progess this year

but ah well, B is only 6, we have plenty of time.

I'm a bit embarrased to put mine on

it seems quite insignifigant next to all of your BSJA stuff

ok.....

I want to compete at a local show and get a rosette... never competed before or got a rosette

I want to do Cross-Country....don't think that this will be this year though

Have a gallop along the beach.

They all sound silly to yours but its want I am aiming to do. We were meant to start our jumping lessons yesterday....we did sort of...my instructor got on first to get the feel for her and to see how she went hhhhhmmmm explosive shall we say LOL she can certainly jump and goes for it hell for leather!!!! My instructor was glad to be getting off of her own accord apparently, she was a little bugger!! It was decided that she needed a bit more time getting back into it before I attempt to jump her

Maybe next week, the body protector got put back in the cupboard LOL

Go to the Cherif champs with Axey and hopefull do well, would love to be Supreme Champion there.
Get Axey to medium level dressage, and maybe take it from there, but at the moment I'd be delighted with getting good marks at medium level.

Win the lottery, and lose about 2 stone!

I would like to get my horse up to prehaps doing his first novice dressage by the end of this year (once his medium trot is estalished), then hopefully work on more advanced stuff next year with the aim of getting him up to elementary (and hopefully beyond in the future!). I would also love to do some jumping competitions with him as we haven't yet had a chance to do any (only got him last november when he was petrified of jumping, he is now fine but due to no transport haven't been able to compete in this yet). I'd love to do an endurance ride with him too as he has loads of stamina and possibly hunting, though I think he might be too crazy so will have to work on getting more control cross country first!

The 'grand plan' - to build up a good competition record in all three disciplines: BD, BE, BSJA; to provide all my pupils with the best of my knowledge and skills so they can do the best they can; to improve my teaching skills, go for BHSI and maybe an accreditation with BD or BSJA; to produce quality young horses; to 'produce' quality riders! Quite a few plans.
That was long term. Short term - as above but in a smaller scale

Also - do the best I can with my new training project and - that's more of a dream - do well at BYEH next year with her.
All the bets to all of you with all your plans

Great idea for a thread.
My goals are, to buy the best animal I can for my money this autumn/winter. To then back it and turn it into a fab western horse.
A comp or two next year would be lovely too

like to try some trail and le trec to start with

I can dream!

Oh no, Tricksy, I would love to do all the same as your ones

I did once manage to get a rosette - I came last of 6 in a Run and Ride race when some friends let me ride their horse in a gymkhana (the only class I did!) and got a 6th place rosette! But that doesn't really count, does it?

Would also love to do cross country and ride on the beach sometime. Is it greedy to borrow your ambitions as well as my own?!

Well although everything hasnt gone quite to plan this year, we have still managed 2 very good placings in our last 2 ODE outings...so would like to continue that into BE this year, and finish feeling confident SJing, and possibly going PN. Long term would like to take him intermediate

Well my goal for this summer is to get my back right so I can ride again!

[/ QUOTE ]

Hope that works out for you!
My back's been in a phase for the last 4/5 years and I've gained weight and not been able to ride. For the last 6 months it's been behaving itself and I've been able to do some Aerobics to get myself in shape, so I'm hoping to start riding again - I can get my jodhpurs on now!!! - then I might just spend some of my SSIA on a horse and see how it goes from there...
I have a cousin who started breeding horses a few years ago, I'd like to see what his are like and maybe get one of them - family discount and all

To buy myself my dream horse and compete affiliated dressage and maybe have a go at jumping as well. I used to jump when I was much younger but lost my nerve and feel its something I just can't do!

To get my ankle back to normal after breaking it! Just gone a few steps backwards as went over it at weekend and now lost some of the movement I had gained back and its really swollen again.

Oh and to sell my lovely ex racehorse to a lovely home where she will be loved and hugged as she deserves (she just is that bit too small for me otherwise she would be staying!)

keep having lessons with Frankie so he becomes a balanced and obedient horse, off his forehand and soft. me to keep working on my position so i can use my seat and legs independently, and Frankie can use himself properly without any hindrance from me.

in the next few months: have jump lessons on another horse, so when i start to jump Frankie i am in a better position to help him out, and not pull him all over the place and bang around on his back.

take him for a trip away from the crap hacking where he's kept, go for a gallop in the New forest, or somewhere like that with good tracks.

eventually i would like to start entering him in riding club events, spesh jumping and cross country! but would like to keep the flatwork going well so when we are jumping i am in control and Frankie is balanced, most importantly i want him to enjoy himself! and me!
