What are your favourite bits about owning a horse?

The feel of his breath on my face when he gently nuzzles me, the quiet hacks around the countryside, just being with him, he is my sanity and my best friend!

Such beautiful replies!

Reading some of these replies makes me not want to wait to have my boy back and the new boy on board! Roll on 2013 :)

I used to love the faint smell of fly spray linger and the sweet smell off haylage sweep across the yard on a Summers evening.

Just the complete peace of mind we all feel when having those "moments" with your horse. Nothing else in the world seems to matter.

After poulticing for what feels like weeks, farriers who either make your horse lame/declare lame horse sound or fail to answer a phone, rubbish weather and flaming mud and water absolutely everywhere, I can't actually think of any right now  :(

For me I think it has to be her neighs and low toned nickers when she sees me walking to the field, or the stable or if I'm mucking out I chat to her and she will make cute noises. Also when I'm not feeling 100% she always brings a smile to my face, I love her to bits.

I just love being around him, I love it on the rare occasions I find him lying down in his stable and he lets me come in and give him a cuddle :)

I love the way he nods off when I'm grooming him and when he wakes up he makes himself jump!

I also love the way his bottom lip flaps if he is chilled or he wants his tea.

He really is a blessing :)

That moment very early in the morning when you drop your reins and just let your horse go, stretching your arms out like wings without a care in the world, feeling as if nobody else exists and both perfectly intune with each other, complete freedom :) Then turn round at the top of the hill to watch the sunrise - absolute heaven. You realise how lucky you are and what a way to start a day!
